When I finished that last page, I was left smiling and grabbed the next book in The Page Turners Series
Have you ever picked up a book because of someone else's recommendation, even though that genre wasn't really your thing? Because that was me. I'm not really into chick lit or mysteries anymore. I've liked plenty in the past, but they haven't worked for me in the last few years. Yet I trusted an author whose books I love, and picked up a sample on Amazon. I was happily surprised that when I got to the end of the sample, I had to have more! So I went and bought this book. It was just that adorable. Another Saturday Night made me laugh and the characters quickly became my friends. And I'm happy to say that when I finished that last page, I was left smiling and grabbed the next book in The Page Turners Series!Stepping into the first scene of this book, I knew I was going to love it. Sunny was talking to her eighty year old neighbor, Edna, on the phone. You see, one of Sunny and Edna's neighbor, Walter, was MIA. But Edna swears she saw a hot, gun toting stranger going into Walter's house last night. What transpired from there was oh so funny. Especially how Sunny ended up meeting said hot, gun toting stranger. His name was Jake Landon and he definitely had a ton of secrets. Yet Sunny couldn't deny that there was an attraction between them, right from the start. Not only were Sunny and Edna neighbors and friends, but they both belonged to a weekly book club. Rounding out the club was Maggie, a mom of two boys, whose husband left her a year and a half ago. Cassie, who was happily married with two kiddos. And Piper, who was Cassie's high school niece who had come to live with her. I quickly warmed up to each of these women and found myself invested in their lives too. They not only discussed the books they were reading, but also their lives. And in their latest book meeting, they all decided to help Sunny out with her lack of love life. They were going to set her up on a date a week, for the next six weeks.Sunny's dates were hilarious! I was laughing so hard, but at the same time I was dying for her awkward situations. And I found humor in so many other places in this book too. Even with Sunny's dog, Beau. Oh my gosh, I adored Beau!! He was hilarious, loyal and added so much joy to this story. I also loved how Beau interacted with Jake, sigh. I truly think that Beau is my favorite dog in a story. Ever. So while Sunny found herself going out on these blind dates, and coming back to just her dog, Jake was still there. Just next door. They couldn't help but run into each other. And slowly a friendship started to form, yet there was also that attraction between the two of them. But there were still so many questions surrounding Jake. Who was Jake? And where was Walter? Did Jake kill him? And as if that wasn't enough, another mystery appeared on the pages.I'm proud to say that I guessed the majority of the mysteries correctly, yay! And I'm also proud to say I liked how this story was told. Usually I prefer to stick with one or two characters, so I found myself shocked that I liked floating around between everyone. Yeah Sunny was the main character, and we spent the majority of the time with her. But we also got to see life through Jake, Maggie, Piper and a few of the other characters too. I was more than invested in all of their lives. This book was super adorable, light even though it touched on some heavier topics (trigger warning for attempted rape), had a sweet romance, intriguing mysteries and was such a quick read. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book and catching up with this crazy gang again!

Very sweet
The blind dates was a clever idea for the book! Jake was a bit confusing thru the book, but I guess that went with the territory. This was an enjoyable read.

Another Saturday Night and I Ain't Go No Body
Another Saturday Night and I Ain't Go No Body is the first in a series by Jennie Marts. The story starts with 80 yr old Edna calling 30 yr old Sunny informing her that she saw a man dressed in dark letting himself into their shared neighbors home in the middle of the night. They began to think about the last time they had seen said neighbor, and realized that it must have been at least 2 weeks prior. sunny plays off the mystery man as Edna must have watched a few too many crime shows on tv.Later that day, Sunny is at the grocery store, where she meets a friendly stranger. When it appears he has followed her home, she gets out of her car and pummels him with whatever is in her purse - chap stick, etc. Turns out the guy hadn't intentionally followed her home. He was staying at their missing neighbors home. The lovely Jake informs her that the neighbor is a relative. The next day, the neighbor's garage explodes. Sunny and Edna are part of book club, and they have all come to the conclusion that this mystery man has killed their neighbor.Sunny is also having a dry spell when it comes to dates. So each of the girls from the book club have decided they will take turns setting her up on a date. Each date is a disaster, and the mystery man always seems to come to the rescue.Without giving away any more details, I would say that one could see the ending happening a long time before it actually happened, but the details of each of the disastrous dates makes for good reading. This book was a good read, even though the ending was spot on predictable. There are some twists and turns, and the readers will be delighted with how the story ends.

A Great Blend of Comedy, Romance, and Suspense
Cozy Mystery, Chick Lit, and Women’s Fic – this book is a very entertaining hybrid of all my favorite genres and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Schoolteacher Sunny Vale is a very likable and relatable heroine. She lives in small town Colorado, has an adorable golden retriever named Beau, a good relationship with her neighbors, and a wonderful group of friends. What she doesn’t have is a social life, but all that changes when the ladies in her book club decide to take turns setting her up on a different blind date six weeks in a row. Although Sunny humors her friends by going on these dates, which are increasingly hilarious and disastrous, the man who really revs her motor is the mysterious blond hunk next door. Jake Landon may or may not be responsible for the disappearance of Sunny’s elderly neighbor, Walter, so he’s not exactly good relationship material. Can she trust him, or will her heart lead her into danger? There were a lot of laughs in this book (the doggy hijinks of Beau, all of the horrible, no good, very bad dates Sunny has to suffer through, and just about everything that comes out of the mouth of Edna, her octogenarian, CSI-loving friend), but there were also some genuinely scary moments (I’ll admit I had to read one scene under a blanket. Yes, I’m a wuss.) Author Jennie Marts is very witty, as evidenced by her clever book title, and she knows how to write a well-paced and engaging story populated with unique and memorable characters. Another Saturday Night was a terrific start to the Page Turners series and I look forward to reading future books, in which other members of the book club will step into the spotlight.

New mystery series with a dose of romance
First time reading Jennie Marts' books, & I did enjoy it. This is a quick, light read with fun, romance & mystery. The book focuses on Sunny, a single thirty-something teacher. Her friends at the Page Turners Bookclub try to set her up with six dates during the summer holidays, with some hilarious results. Her neighbour Walter next door disappears & shortly after, a hunky guy claiming to be his grandson, moves into the property. Of course, Sunny is attracted to Jake's good looks & fab fit body, but when the police finds Walter's prized possessions in the aftermath of his garage explosion, is Jake the murderer? With an unknown stalker after her, & Sunny seriously falling for Jake, can he be trusted with her life & her heart? As I said, I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters & Ms Marts' writing. There was no sex or bad language, & I don't think there were any errors/ typos. I enjoyed reading about Sunny's friends & dates. It was a bit predictable (she was going to fall for someone!) & I could see her friends falling for certain "dates". I didn't realise who the stalker was until quite late on (yes, I was a bit slow!) & I certainly didn't expect the twist near the end of the book!

Page Turner
Sunny is a second grade school teacher and a member of the "Page Turners Book Club". The women who make up the rest of the book club decide to help Sunny find a man and each one of them sets her up on a date. Multiple dates leave Sunny with a string of unsuitable and in one case, dangerous dateable men. Her neighbour's shed has mysteriously gone up in smoke and the neighbour is missing!

A good easy going beach read.
This book centres around sunny and her dog!! Sunny is single and in need of a date so her 6 friends fix her up on dates for the next 6 Saturday's but love is closer than she thought. This books was an easy read and was a chic lit crossed with a who dunnit, it wasn't taxing to read but had enough going on to keep you interested.A good read that could be picked up as and when and you wouldn't lose the story plot.
