The Magic Hat

I purchased this as a gift for a classroom teacher for a poetry unit. The rhyme scheme in the book seems to lend itself well to children (particularly creative types) to choose their own characters and items to follow the same patterns and create a classroom companion piece to the original story.I once met Mem Fox after she'd done this book as a read aloud and then spoke for awhile. What a kind, caring, and generous woman she is. That day made quite an impression on me and I hope many generations of people (I've gifted this book a number of times over the years) keep enjoying her work.

Discovered author from another book and was just looking to add to kids library. Purchased, and This became are favorite!

This is a fun one to sing to toddlers or pre-school age. It’s catchy and imaginative. The page turns create anticipation which draws the kids in.

We bought this book just because of what it is representative of. The author of this book, did not know how to read until he went to college, or didn't know how to read well. Seeing his story on the television prompted me to buy this book to support his campaign of getting people to read. This is something to support, because this is something everyone needs to know.

My daughter loves all her books and so do I for my classroom. This one is good for predicting, rhyming, and imagination. After the first time my husband read this book to our daughter he said, "I really liked that one!" If a 36 year old man likes a picture book, you know it's a good one.

I have purchased this book several times as gifts and read it often to my granddaughter. When I got it from the library for a grand nephew, it was another fun read. He found a hat and made his hat magic too. That was my inspiration to order his very own. It is a favorite for sure and luckily a fun book for adults to read over and over.

I ordered this book because Mem Fox is the author and I've loved Tough Boris so much by this same author. It's a nice story however second to Tough Boris.

This is a great read aloud to inspire imagination in kids 2 - 2nd grade! Make them their own magic hat to use to explore their imagination! Great as a gift for a newborn if you have the skill/talent to knit or crochet a hat to match the one in this book!

I LOVE this book SO much. The words rhyme so they have a good flow. The story is adorable. The art is fabulous. It puts children to sleep or gets them in a fun mood depending on how you read it. It's not too long. It came in perfect condition quickly.

This book plays with scale, time, space, and hierarchy in the most wonderful and subversive way. It is in my permanent top five children’s books.

This was a perfect book to link my 'abracadabra' topic to Australia. The simple rhyming pattern is perfect and I managed to find some great ideas (for this book) on the internet.
