The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: A Commemorative Pop-Up

Robert Sabuda is an amazing artist! His pop-up books are a far-cry from the little pop-ups of my youth! It is incredible to see the story come to life, from a twister, to the final balloon, and every page in between. But the big pop-ups are only part of the story. Each page also has smaller pop-ups or little book-like additions so that the book actually tells the (abbreviated)story and each of these also has some whimsical aspect to it. It is truly a work of art that my children cherish. One word of caution, these are not books for small children the way the old pop-ups were. The pop-ups are very elaborate and small children would wreck them very quickly. My kids are now 9 and I only gave them the books when they were 8, along with the admonition that these books (my daughter has Alice in Wonderland) are very special and must be treated with GREAT care. They've held up fine and my son even used his to bring the story to life when I read them the actual book!

This arrived at my home 2 days after I placed the order(what is possibly better than that?!)It came very nicely packaged and looks brand new,I purchased it used but I certainly could not tell it was used.To say it was/is in great condition would be an understatement.Im 28 years old and this is one of my favorite stories of all time,I fell in love with it when I was a small child and had read all the books in the series before I saw the movie.One thing I LOVE about this version is towards the end is it actually includes The Quadlings,The Winkies and the country of the Munchkins,not just the Munchkins themselves which is a part of the original story.More than half of the pop-ups in this back are breathtaking,the kind that just make you smile.I have 3 kids and they have started a pop-up book collection and were beaming as well as I was when we first read this book.If youre questioning purchasing this book,Dont even question it,If youre a huge fan like I am..just get it,You WONT be let down.

Super cool book! I had one when I was younger, and it wasn’t exactly the same but this one was very detailed and the quality is great. The pop ups are interactive and colorful!

This is a lovely book that fascinated my three year old granddaughter. Just a wonderful keepsake

My kids and I love the immersive nature of this book. Every page is an adventure. It really enforces and encourages the excitement in the experience of reading. I enjoy just flipping through the pages to find the various hidden compartments and exploring different scenes. Very cool book!

Robert Sabuda is the king of popup books. It is a truly amazing work of art, not for the little tykes as the popups are somewhat fragile, but maybe with adult supervision. If you know someone who is an eclectic book collector this is the one for them as well. I got this for my 18 year old granddaughter who played the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz--her last high school play before graduation.

I bought almost the whole series of these pop-up books for my grandchildren. Not a simple pop-up - these are exquisite in their detail and creation to really add great visuals to good stories. Just bought another as a gift to a friend with baby on the way. Hope she enjoys with her children.

Wonderful item. Other than a tiny piece of tape on the spine, you can't tell this is a used item. Quality is superb.

This book is just stunning,every page has a work of art pop up and smaller side pages with more stunning pop ups,it's one of the best pop up books I've ever seen,don't hesitate to get this book you won't be disappointed,I also have the Alice in Wonderland one of these books and it's equally stunning,these books are good for children and adults (who love the wizard of oz),but I'd read with supervision of small children due to the intricate parts of the pop ups so they don't get ripped or broken,a very special book to own

Das Buch besteht insgesamt aus 6 großen Doppelseiten. Jede Seite beinhaltet ein großes Pop-Up Element und mehrer kleine in den kleineren "Zwischenseiten" die auf jeder Seite zusätzlich aufgeklappt werden können. Die Geschichte ist trotz der geringen Seitenanzahl vollständig enthalten, allerdings natürlich in englischer Sprache Die großen Elemente funktionieren allesamt einwandfrei und das Buch ist eine wahre Augenweide. Zudem sind viele der Pop-Ups mit glitzernden Elementen verziert, wodurch der Effekt noch grandioser wird. Meinung: Einfach richtig cool. Nur sollte man die Geschichte entweder auswendig können oder eben der englischen Sprache mächtig sein.
