Sharing Jesus over a cup of coffee
Basics: Josh McDowell for those in the Evangelical community has been for decades a winsome apologists for Christianity. In this latest endeavor he attempts to mix theology proper (the doctrines of God) with conversational dialog setting used for those seeking relational personal evangelism. McDowell imagines it in a coffee house setting hence the name of the series.Positives: I have given it four stars because after skim reading the books it is something I say that I like but for me personally it is not one I would return to often so I can not say I love it. This book is wonderful for those looking how to share their faith with someone that is generally not informed on basic evangelical orthodoxy.Miscellaneous: This book is definitely for those that are going to share their faith with middle to upper middle income individuals seeking to share the basics of evangelical orthodoxy. It may not work as well for those that meet people and want to share Jesus with those hostile to Christianity. For that scenario pick up McDowell's Evidence that Demands a Verdict.

Coffee House Chronicles Set by Josh McDowell
This set of The Coffee House Chronicles is the best that I have ever read in explaining that there really is a Jesus that loves us and died for us after all.I bought this set for my young adult grandson because i wasn't sure if he is a Christian. This is a series with the same characters throughout so I think it important to read the three books in order. There are a significant number of atheists and also agnostics as well as Christians. These books are done skillfully with absolutely no "in your face" actions. They are done with love for all the characters and they talk to us in language that we can understand. These are not preachy books and are presented as little novels to keep your interest up.. As soon as I finished one I couldn't wait to start the next one. These are fast reads with approximately 130 pages each. I can't imagine anyone wondering about Christianity no liking these books.

or just a nice moral teacher
Can we be sure of what we believe? Is the Bible actually a historical record of things that REALLY happened in ancient history? Was Jesus actually God in flesh, or just a nice moral teacher? Did a dead man really come to life again 2000 years ago, turning history and the world upside down? Does it really matter if we answer any of these questions? Josh McDowell masterfully answers all these questions in Coffee House Chronicles. If you're looking for ways to witness to friends, these books show you how. These books are well written, but not scholarly, boring theological treatises. With the use of fictional characters and a lively setting, the Gospel is defended and lives are transformed! I highly recommend these books especially to young people, looking to defend their faith in a common sense and effective manner

Great addition to any library but even better as opportunities for explaining what Christianity is about.
These set of books are a great add for any library. They are easy to read and establish good arguments for most of the crucial pillars of christian belief. The vignettes are great in that you can identify with the situation at hand and not feel as though you are lost in an ivory tower of apologetic discussion. The real gem of this set is the intentionality in imbuing this with a Gospel oriented presentation throughout the chapters. There is even a chapter titled "The True Gospel." Overall, whether you may want these as gifts or literally have them on your coffee table (or kindle), these books will be a great discussion opener for any and all who are interested in finding out about what Christianity is all about.

These have great apologetics information loosely wrapped in a story of happenings on a small campus and it's coffee shop. The storyline is good but not great. It does make the books a little easier on the reader. I think these are a great way to get older teens to take a look at apologetics.

Well written!
The story line of this book is written in a way that shows the struggles and turmoil many individuals face as they come to grips with the truth about Jesus Christ and the historical accuracy of the Bible. It's written very well and draws the reader in developing a love for the characters of the story.
