First one in a number of years, just as I remembered it but with modern levels of resolution.
I used trackballs of varying types all the time years ago and just got away from them with time as I was working mostly on the run with laptops. These days I'm fixed at my desk a lot more and decided after having a defective Logitech Hero that kept double clicking things that I'd try one of the Expert Mouse units again.Very solid build, modern level of resolution and the software allows for some nice customization of the mappings and button assignments.I have fairly large hands and find this more comfortable that a typical mouse. My hand doesn't cramp up as much. These track balls are best for "consuming" media or operating the controls of software applications, if you really need fine control a traditional mouse or better yet, a digitizer pen are better options. It does take a few days of adjustment if you have never used one. You will want to experiment with the acceleration and speed thresholds and the button modifier to go to high resolution, fine, slow mode is very handy too.The only thing to know and I already did from years ago is that you basically lift the ball out and clean the guide posts pretty much daily to keep them nice and smooth. I just use a dry napkin to wipe them off, nothing fancy. The ball rewards clean hands, it's not going to treat you well if you keep using it during a nice lunch of fried chicken.

ACCO/Kensington TRACKBALL Expert Mouse Optical
I love these Trackballs, this is my 3rd one I have 2 wired Trackballs on 2 PCs and a wire less one for my laptop. I find them very comfortable to use, I found no issues in setting them up. I thought that it was a bit pricey, but worth it, in the end. Yes very pleased with this Trackball.

Love My Kensington Trackball Mouse
I love my trackball. I had this product at work and bought it for my personal use. My only "complaint" is that, on mine, the circular band around the ball itself is very sensitive and moves the page when I don't want it too. But it's a minor inconvenience.

Longevity
I have had two of these for 15 years and one started to malfunction, so I ordered another one. Since I connected the malfunctioning one to a laptop, it is now working.

Do Not Buy From Kensington: Defective, Customer Support is a failure
One star is because you have to give a star to give a review. I don't have a working product, so that's worth zero stars.I have had several Kensington trackballs before. Despite the egregious price, I expected the same quality product I'd always gotten. It had a subtle defect to stop sending the position changes to the computer (but clicks and scroll wheel still worked) progressing over time... After the return period was up, it got to failing a few times an hour requiring unplugging and re-plugging it in. So I contacted customer service.Their website was busted, but their people (supposedly) made up for it... They got the invoice, shipping information and... promised the replacement would arrive in 10-14 business days. Wowsers! If I buy something I need and have to live without it for almost three weeks.... I should just buy a new one from someone else.My ticket was, of course, closed because it closes after 14 calendar (not business) days. It didn't arrive. I contacted them and asked for tracking information. They promised to check. Nothing -- no response, no delivery. I contacted them over a month after they promised to ship it. They asked me for the invoice and shipping address -- apparently after they put it in the system and said it would ship, they lost the information and asked me to resubmit it. Of course, this was on my second follow up.This is terrible. And they didn't have a supervisor or even anything but the person's word that it would actually be shipped this time.I don't like to write reviews, but this complete failure was worth sharing: Don't buy from Kensington if you can't afford to lose your money due to defective product and failed customer service.

Mouse works great, when it's in good working condition...
First and foremost: I love this mouse. It's robust and helps me with the limited space I have on my desk. Good for arthritis people and stuff. However, for this particular, individual product, its faulty and only works sometimes:1. It randomly cuts out and I need to remove and re-insert the usb to get it to boot up again.2. The center spin wheel is sticky.I never had this problem with my prior mouse (same exact mouse, by the way). It's clear to me the seller has a bunch of product, be it returns, or others, and probably only has stock of the B-grade leftovers and is trying to sell them to others. I feel cheated. If it didn't work at all, I'd ask for a full refund. However if you're lucky enough to get a fully functioning mouse, it's a wonderful item to use that doesn't need too much space, and is robust and will last 5+ years. Just be careful with the tiny balls which guide the large roller ball. Placing the ball inside too hard might crack a ball, ruining the mouse. Otherwise, it can handle lots of use. Only use for gaming if you can get use to the item. Probably not recommended for gaming.

Help for carpal tunnel syndrome or repetitive stress injury
I have done a lot of ergonomics work for a major bank. Carpal tunnel syndrome or repetitive stress injury is a common problem for people who use a computer mouse extensively. The Kensington Expert Mouse is an excellent alternative that will help a lot. Depending on how bad your case is, you may find yourself using this alternative for a year or more. The problem arises in most people because they use the mouse incorrectly or it is too small for their hand. More on this later...The expert mouse is so effective because it decouples positioning from the click or selection process. You position the pointer with the center of the middle three fingers (fingers are not bent), THEN, you select the target by using the thumb to click a button. These are TWO separate actions. There is nothing to hold or squeeze. The correct way to use a mouse is to NOT grip or hold it, but to simply "ride" it with your open hand. The clicking operation should be done with a straight finger, not a bent one.In some operations, the Kensington Expert Mouse is quite handy because you can park the pointer in a specific position and it will stay there. One of the unique features of this Expert Mouse is the 55mm size of the ball - about the size of a pool ball. . Devices with smaller balls will be much less effective. Another is the positioning in the middle of a cradle that allows you to use your flat fingers, not your thumb. If you periodically clean the expert mouse, it will last many years. There is virtually nothing to wear out.

trackball
j"adore ce trackball c'est le troisième que j'achète et utilise. par contre kesington pourrait fournir des pilotes mis à jour pour les utilisateurs Mac comme moi! ce qui est tele chargeable ne fonctionne pas. c'est pas très sérieux.

It's quite nice, but it's basically just a regular laser mouse internals with a nice case.
When I unpacked it, I realised it's just a regular laser mouse, with the sensor tracking the ball instead of the table surface. Not really sure it's worth the 100€ price. Now, regarding the ergonomics, it's been only a bit more than a week, and while I'm not back to the accuracy and speed as I was with a regular mouse, I'm already seeing some benefits. I love how I can just spin the ball and move the cursor through 3 displays without any issue. Now, why only 3 stars? Well, when I leave my PC sleeping, after it wakes up, the trackball doesn't work. I have to replug it so I can use it, which is very annoying, as it means that almost every time I go back to my PC, I have to get to the PCs back, unplug it and plug it back again. It did not happen with any mouse or keyboard that I've been using before. If this problem persists, I'm thinking of returning it, just because it's so annoying, maybe getting another trackball.

Casi perfecto
