Snuffle Mat for Dogs, Dog Feeding Mat, Dog Puzzle Toys, for Encourgaing Natural Foraging Skills for Cats Dogs (Sunflower) (A)

I have an Australian Shepherd (50lb) and I heard that these mats help with nose work, and keep them engaged during the day. However do to the flimsy quality of the mat (literally looks like a a 5th grader made it for a school art project) has led my dog to the discovery that its much easier to just flip the mat over and eat the food or treat off the floor when they fall out. I have several people tell me to velcro it to the ground, weight it down, sew it to a larger blanket, etc. These are all great suggestions and might be a solution, but the problem is the quality of the mat, the fabric is not rigid at all, it is felt-like and feels cheap to the touch. I have seen mats like this in the past, normally they are designed to work like tall grass, and they are much better in comparison. If you want to get your dog something that will actually train them to use their nose, and keep them entertained go with something sturdier.Pros: easy to washCons: literally everything else

I got this for my 65lb AmStaff mix. She's a foodie and hoovers her meals in about 60 seconds and stares at us for more. This has slowed her waaaayyyy down. She sniffs and gobbles for ten whole minutes (no joking). Not only is it helping her digestion (much less farting), it's an opportunity to stimulate her sniffy senses.I was concerned at first that she might destroy it, like she does with tennis balls. She tugged at it a little with the first use, but after that she's been very good.We have run it through the wash (icky doggie drool) and it held up pretty well.I'm quite pleased with this purchase :)

We have a 1.5 year old Sheltie mix. She always expresses interest in sniffing and snuffling outside in the tall grass so we decided to give this a go to see how she would like it. She definitely has enjoyed finding treats and goes through it pretty fast although that's just her thing - go through something and then onto the next activity. It would depend on your dogs personality and attention span.As for durability, she is not a chewer or aggressive player so we can't be helpful on that end. I can imagine it would be easy for some dogs to tear up. It's been completely fine for us and she has used it properly. I have not yet tried washing it but it seems like it would hold up fine. I'll edit here in the future if it does not. It slides around a bit (does not stick to the ground very well although it has a lining of grippers on the bottom) but she finds a way around that.All in all, I'm super happy with this purchase. It's been a challenge finding things to entertain our girl for long but this mat has been a great success. Good value for the money. Also it looks much cuter than the other snuffle mats out there!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Our puppy has been digging a lot in our backyard. This activity helps her to relieve that craving for digging, and gives me a few minutes of peace! I've washed it once and threw it in the dryer under low heat, and it came out looking new. This mat is very well made. The only thing that would make it even better is if it didn't slide around. There are rubber nubs that help, but our pup really digs into the mat.

Before even a bit of food hit the mat, Doc was ready to dig in. With food, he couldnt get enough of the mat. He is either really smart or super lazy as the second picture reveals because it didnt take long for him to figure out how to get some of the food to dump out. It was a lot of fun watching him and I anticipate he will enjoy this for a long time to come!

My dog is so excited when I use this to give her food. It can get a little gross depending on how long you go between washing but if I could give her all her food through "snuffles" she would love it. Very easy to up the challenge too by pushing the food in deeper. If you have very large kibble, it might be hard to give a major challenge but even with that, my dog still loves it.

My 13 year old lab mix loves to be challenged. He enjoys this pretty sniffle mat. It is smaller than I thought it would be. I thought there was a lab-type dog in one of the posted photos. It is my fault for not checking the size, but it does the trick. It is approximately 18" in diameter. He enjoys searching for treats. He never over eats, so I didn't buy it for that reason. Although, I could see an entire scoop of food for a medium sized dog hidden in and on this mat. My cats enjoyed searching for treats on this mat. Now my cats over eat and eat too fast, so I am still looking for a small mat to feed my cats now that I know they can figure out how to locate treats in a mat.

Our little female Golden Retriever would get the hiccups after every meal. Then we got this snuffle mat. It takes her much longer to find/eat her meals now and she does not get the hiccups. Wish we had learned about it sooner. Would definitely recommend this to others and already have. It says hand wash - but I wash it on our delicate cycle with no problems.
