2-piece construction
Would give 4.5 stars if possible - as all the other reviews are a 5, I chose a 4.Product is beautifully made and very well packed. However the the rolling pin is of 2 laminated pieces, which I was not expecting and is not shown in the product pictures. I chose a single wood option thinking it was one piece, but to be fair that is not stated anywhere in the description, and modern wood glues should last many (20-100+) years before breaking down even in a kitchen environment. Highly recommended, but be aware of this fact.

Beautiful and practical
I bought this for my wife and she loves it. She had given up on baking pies but when she saw this, she took it up again. We lived in France for many years and this is the design that any French patissier would prefer. It is perfect for rolling out pie crusts. My wife loves the beautiful design and refuses to put it in a drawer because it adds to the kitchen decor.

... products in the past and have always been extremely happy with the quality
I have purchased several Earlywood products in the past and have always been extremely happy with the quality. It starts with the packaging. The item was carefully wrapped in white tissue paper and then brown craft paper with a seal. Also included was a small Scotch-Brite pad labeled "Wood Care" with care instructions. The layers of wood are expertly sealed with no gaps and sanded smooth. I found the length to be ideal for rolling out pastry and dough, large enough to make a job quick, small enough to maneuver easily. The ends taper so that you can hold it without worrying about your hands. The size makes it easy to store in the drawer, but it is so pretty that I may need to figure out how to display it.

When baking is just plain "fun"!!!
This marvellously carved rolling pin is so beautiful! Love the weight of it, not too heavy when doing hours and hours of pie making. Cookies are easy to roll too. And don't let the "French" side of the description faze you. You'll master rolling dough in a snap with this in your hands. I HIGHLY recommend this Rolling pin that is hand made, Earlywood is a great company, great great service.

Beautiful Rolling Pin!
I was excited to see this US based company, which makes really nice wooden products, offer a french rolling pin. It's a beautiful piece of wood and also feels really sturdy while rolling out dough. Did I mention it's beautiful? Yes, it's pricey but I doubt you'd buy another rolling pin in your life. And, it's produced in the USA.

Perfect weight
I wanted a rolling pin that would give smooth even edges and was told to get a French style rolling pin. I discovered this brand on Amazon because of the reviews. The wood is smooth, I mean there are no breaks, nicks, splinters to be found. It is sanded to perfection. It tapers off from the middle evenly to each side. One of the best parts is the weight, you can comfortably alternate direction without getting tired from moving a heavy log like the standard bowling pins, I mean rolling pins 😛.The color I ordered was the Jatoba-Ebony-Maple French type of wood. After unboxing, I cleaned it and used it to roll out pizza dough. Simply put, this rolling pin is gorgeous! It’s something that needs to be shown in your kitchen like a work of art because it is in both looks and function.

Extremely durable with Great Maneuverability
When one of the ends broke off my traditional cylindrical rolling pin, some research and positive reviews led me to Earlywood's French tapered design. Mexican ebony is among the hardest woods available. This one is supposedly two pieces. But you' won't notice the seam. After washing in hot soapy water and drying, I applied mineral oil. This turned the wood back to a dark black. The real benefit though is how the tapered design really gives you solid control over the direction of the pin. And the French style is thinner than traditional rollers. So you're closer to whatever dough you're rolling out. Earlywood clearly takes care with their products. This was more than I had planned to spend. But it's worth it so far.

Good design and quality
I love the rolling pin and the weight it has which is helpful to roll out pasty dough. The taper design is very easy on the hands and I can’t wait to start using this whenever I bake
