I enjoyed this take on paint by number very much. It is much more your own as only a general sketch is given so your brush strokes are your own. The paint board provided is not the greatest quality, it will warp and absorbs water, but will flatten again when dry. The paint provided is fluid so don't add any water and if you want texture, you will need to get a medium to thicken it. I have done three from this company and would do more. Overall, they are a great product and helped me transition from paint by number to my own work. The best part and biggest challenge for me was the blending of the flesh tones. I learned a lot from this painting and used online resources to study the picture and shading in more detail. I think I can use the sketch provided to try it again with better paint and medium to slow the drying time.

I ran into problems but in the end it turned out nice once I did the following. I recommend using the lines as a guide and not filling them in to the letter like you would in a paint by number. There were lines on the canvas that were not pertinant to the drawing. Before painting look at it carefully and determine which make no sense and paint over them. Use the instructions provided for color mixing suggestions but you will have to tweak it particularly with the flesh tones.Layer your colors. Start with the dark for your base and add your lighter colors on top of that.The only thing that salvaged the painting was following the picture provided and not treating it as a paint by number.

Having used other painting kits, I must say I was disappointed with this company's. I didn't care for the color hues especially the skin tones nor the canvas. I did appreciate the challenge of the kit as there were no numbers like the previous kits I had used but I did end up tossing the entire project - I just wasn't happy.

Not a bad product. Allows more customization than a straight paint-by-numbers. Pretty fun to paint. The final print also came out nice.

Famous Art Kits is the best paint by number on the market. I have always been satisfied with their product.
