Awesome Book from Hardcore Awesome Instructors
Awesome book and I love the medallion. Really nice touch. I had been traveling from Boston to NYC on a weekly basis to learn this art at the Kwong Man Fong Pak Mei Association. It was well-worth it and I hope to continue to return to training soon. The most hardcore Kung Fu training ever. This system is the real deal.

Great book on Southern Staff.
This is a great little book on Southern Staff techniques from the Cheung Lai Chuen style of Bak Mei Kung Fu. The techniques are simple, and effective... exactly what you want in a real fight... but really... who carries a staff these days? The staff depicted is long, but the techniques are easily adaptable to a short stick or even a baseball bat for home defense. Most Kung Fu staff techniques were originally created for the monk's bindlestiff and walking stick, cut from a sapling, The original "Rat tail staff", which was no more than armpit height anyway...But I digress... this is a great book.

Great information
The material is well presented and very informative. This book isn't written from a "how to" perspective but as a companion to a classroom setting for Bak Mei. You won't learn how to do the movements related to the staff but you will definately learn the why it is done. Willy Pang definately goes into the concepts you need to excell with Bak Mei staff work. It is the little things that make the greatest success in staff work and this definately gives you information on those key items. The full gate theory as it relates to the staff is covered in great detail as well as power transfer through the weapon. I can definately recomend this to people wanting a little deeper look into the why things are done.

A bit disapppointed
I purchased this book with great enthusiasm, thinking that I would learn more about this style of kung fu. This book is too wordy. There isn't enough illustrations to help the readers to clearly understand what the author is really saying. The pole set isn't clearly shown in sequence, thus making it difficult to follow. I intend to purchase another book on Bak Mei from the same author and hopefully, the instructions would be clearer.

A great book!
Not as much a how to manual as it is a solid introduction and reference for the Pak Mei Staff. Those who practice Pak Mei or other similar arts such as Lung Ying or Nam Tong Long will find it useful.

but it does offer useful tips and information
Students studying the 大陣棍 pole form will find this book insightful. It isn't an instruction guide, but it does offer useful tips and information.

Pak Mei Staff
A very informative and detailed book on one of Pak Mei Kung Fu Staff sets. I really enjoyed the breakdown of staff principals and the explanation of the Staff techniques. It is rare to have the english and chinese names for the techniques explained and shown. I really appreciated the detail that the author conveyed to his readers with the background of what novice to advance practitioners can relate and expand in their training. A rare find on Southern Staff.

EXCELLENT! Highly informative and well presented!
This book is perhaps one of the best on the kung fu pole. Its well organized format and well written presentation makes it a smooth and highly informative read. There are some interesting tidbits of information that reinforce what you may already know about the kung fu staff and there are some distinct approaches that are uniquely Pak Mei. A bonus of the book is that there are Chinese characters for many important terms and all of the technique names for the form as well as their direct English translations. The content really makes you think about how kung fu was meant to be trained. This is a must read and a must have.
