Good product ... Exceedingly poor packaging and handling
This product itself is sturdy and well designed. However, when I received it the packaging looked like it had been through a war zone and there was physical damage to the unit itself. The physical damage was to the rear stabilizer slot which had one corner bent up to the point where it was impossible to insert the stabilizer bar into it. And, the same area was badly scratched along the entire underside of the upper lip, indicationg that this unit had been roughly handled, maybe during an assembly attempt, and then disassembled at some point. There were also a couple of other cosmetic blemishes, and the grommit for the Heart Monitor wires was missing entirely. My guess is that I was shipped a unit that had been returned by another customer. None of the damage was beyond my ability to repair with the tools I had on hand, but I am a former aircraft mechanic and have the skills. Assembly took about an hour and a half and was a bit complex, but do-able. Over-all this is a very nice product and the completed item meets every spec and claim made by the manufacturer. I am going to dis-assemble it today and send it back for a replacement in hopes that they will send me the brand-new one that I paid for.

Very good bike for the price.
Very good bike for the price. Well built. I opted to put it together myself, and it wasn't hard but the instruction manual print was so small, and the illustrations so poor it was a challenge at times.

Not very comfortable but a gel seat could solve that

Difficult to assemble - Console doesn't work
Received in a few days. When opened the package, some styrofoam was broken and 2 plastic pieces were broken. Assembly directions were small and complicated. Took many hours to assemble. When completed and plugged in, the console would not work.

So far, so good
We purchased this bike from a local dealer with the hope that if we have any problems we could work them out with the dealer.Upon opening the box we immediately found a broken piece. Fortunately it's a cosmetic piece to cover up a small part of the frame. I started inventorying the parts and found that a couple of the parts weren't the same as what the instructions described, but I was able to figure it out. In the end we had all the parts we needed and a couple spare. It went together rather smoothly. The frame, seat and flywheel assembly all seem very sturdy and solid. The handle is firm with a good grip. The electronic panel seems a little less durable than I had hoped, but it's functional, easy to understand and provides plenty of information during the ride.Customer service hasn't been responsive. I called and was put in a electronic answering loop. In the end I had to leave a message for someone to get back to me. I'm just looking for a replacement for the broken part.At this point I would recommend it. We checked out a lot of bikes and finally came down to this one. So far, so good...

bike great and customer service very good in helping me to program
I want to provide a glowing report on diamondback customer service. First the bike arrived in perfect condition. I am not qualified to put anything together so a friend of mine did it. The manual for programming the console is a little difficult to follow so I called customer service and spoke to Patrick who could not have been more patient or helpful with me. So for those of you reading other reviews of Diamondback bike customer service I thought it was important for me to post a positive one. Susan L

Don't buy Diamondback products.
I got this bike as a gift, and I thought it would out shine the last bike I had, which had proven to be a real stinker. (FYI: don't buy Schwinn/Nautilus equipment either.) Unfortunately, this bike was worse and cost double of the last one.Out of the package, the bike took time to assemble, though that's not a big deal to me. My issues were evident once the bike was assembled and ready to go. The bike simply refused to run, refused too count calories burned, speed, watts, or any of the special features on the fancy console. The bike wouldn't even record that I was working out on it, and it would just shut off whenever it felt like it. I couldn't even get in a continuous fifteen minutes of exercise without the dumb thing turning off.So I contacted Diamondback fitness to see what the problem was. They told me it was either the console or the speed sensor inside the machine. And they sent me the spare parts a week and a half later. (They also sent me a nasty note saying that if I didn't return the broken parts with the enclosed return label--though there was absolutely NO RETURN LABEL ANYWHERE in the box--they were going to charge me $300+ for the parts. And my bike's problem existed from day one, the bike was two days old when I called them, and it was clearly still under warranty. It should be noted that I really do not like being threatened, especially by a company that wants my money.)The owners manual says that customers should never take the bike apart, that Diamondback will provide a certified technician to fix the bike because it is a specialized process. Instead, I got a box of parts and no schemtaics or directions to fix the problem. After taking the bike completely apart and fumbling around for an hour without a resolution to my problem, I gave up in disgust, giving the bike back to the gift-giver so they could return it to Amazon.com for a refund. UPS should be by any day to pick it up. What looked like a promising new bike turned out to be a two week waste of my life. If you like frustration and poor service, get this bike. Me, I'd rather smash my head against a brick wall repeatedly than buy another Diamondback product.Diamondback fitness did not help resolve my problems at all, and that's the most frustrating part. It's their product, and though the customer service rep was nice on the phone, a company that refuses to stand by a bike that is two days old is absolutely worthless to me. I was in the market for a lot more fitness equipment for my home gym, and I will most assuredly not be bying any more of their equipment--or their parent company Lifecore Fitness. At least Amazon.com is a standup company and has said they'll take it back. That's why I keep coming back to their wonderful site. Amazon.com helps consumers who hate getting screwed over by uncaring companies like Diamondback fitness.Zo
