A Superb Children Cathecism Book
I do not regret it a bit when I decided to go ahead and read this book myself, as a result of one of the boys in my class whom it was intended for as a Christmas gift did not show up last year. I just wish I knew about it earlier and had the privilege to use it as the `textbook' for the class. Though I have a minimum exposure to Christian children education curriculum, I would consider this book an indispensably must-use for every Christian parent and teacher teaching children aging, I would say, 3 to 10, for four reasons.First, it is God-centered and Scripture-filled, which permeates every single lesson that Susan and Richie Hunt put together. It is indeed their goal "to teach children that they are created for God's glory", and their need for God's grace to live for him. Second, it is a beautiful relatively realistic portrayal of a humble devout Christian family. Third, it has simple ways to teach Christianity without being shallow in a level understandable by children. One might be surprised upon learning it is possible to teach little children some crucial Christian doctrines without the use of theological jargons; the ones included are the doctrines of total depravity, justification by faith, regeneration, and atonement. Fourth, it is pragmatic, where children not only learn about doctrines but also most importantly, how they would turn them into actions, exemplified mainly by Caleb and Cassie, the sweetest, best-behaving boy and girl I have read about, though not without weaknesses to prevent the readers from thinking that they and their parent are some sort of "Super Christians".Younger children to second graders need someone to read for them, but older kids can read for themselves with the help of their teacher to ensure they understand the lessons. Even for `big old kids' like me, these big gospel truths are still exceedingly precious. I don't mind at all sitting under Susan and Richie Hunt's tutelage in this book and would definitely use it for future teaching opportunities.

So good veers towards reformed theology I would say.
We love this book. I would say there seems to be a calvinistic tilt to some of the stories in here. Also some of the questions and answers to said questions i modify idk. Sometimes we talk about why I would word it differently and sometimes I just modify if I notice it beforehand. This is the case for most kids books like this but over all my kids love them and they gave learned alot if scripture through this authors books in particular.

I purchased this book for my daughter when she was 5 with the intention of eventually introducing her to a catechism. Some years later we have started using it and she loves it. While she doesn't get as much from the story as she does the catechism she does still enjoy listening to the story that is woven through the book with the catechism itself. This is the only book she has that she actively approaches her mother and me to read with her. Thus far we are about 35 questions in and she's managed to not only retain the answers but is able to verbalize what the underlying meaning of the questions and answers truly mean. She doesn't give a "This is what I'm expected to say" sort of answer but rather a genuine answer that shows that her brain is really processing what she's hearing. We use these questions as springboards to dive into Scripture itself so as to have a greater understanding and appreciation of the whole canon of Scripture. I would have found value in this book even if I had paid 3 times what I did. It's a tool to help my wife and me better point our daughter to Christ and, in that regard, it has been an enormous help.

Great Applicable Lessons for Kids
This has been a great book that has created wonderful conversations with our kids. Our almost 6 year old daughter can understand the stories and lessons pretty well. Our almost 4 year old boy can’t seem to pay attention or follow along very well. There are 36 stories with some Children’s Catechism questions at the beginning of the stories. We hope to go through this book again when he’s a little older and they can both learn from these stories. Overall, it’s been great for us and I recommend it to others.

Good, but not really for really little kids
My 3 1/2 year old enjoys the stories, though I think they are a little over her head. She did memorize the Q&A of the first few chapters very quickly (and she practices teaching her dolls and toys), but then they get too wordy and complex for her, so I sort of pick and choose the questions each time we read the book.So far (haven't read the entire book yet) there has only been one thing that bothers me a bit: in one of the stories Hunt lumps stuffed animals and living animals into one category. "Toys and animals... don't think and feel and love as we do..." It might be a 'minor' detail, but I had to edit a little as I read that story. Animals may not be able to experience and worship God as we do, but they are definitely not in the same category as a stuffed toy or doll. I have spent time with enough animals to see that they definitely have the capability to think and feel and love.

Great book to help kids understand big concepts
I love the questions & answers given in the book along with the stories that help show how these Q&As are helpful for real life.

Just what we needed 😊
I got this for our 6 year old son, but my 4 year old gleans things from it too. It’s an absolute must have for any Christian home. I’ve been looking for something like this, to help teach my kids what living for God’s glory looks like in a very practical, and real way, even when it’s not easy.
