It is black with no wafers for fitting to your tailgate key
Found a locksmith put in the wafers to match my tailgate key for 50 bucks. You need a real locksmith, less do that work now.Did not try to get the wafer kit from the dealer with vin per instructions.Installing it without the wafers, any key opens it.Cylinder is hard to remove if you do not key it first.Instructions were clear, did not reference locksmith, just dealer.Total cost was worth it to me.

Okay for price
Did not key alike as indicated. It did provide the ability to lock the glovebox, but was able to be opened by any key (not just the vehicle key), which I consider a big drawback.

A factory lock missing pins and springs.
This is a factory Ram glove box lock. It was easy to change out and fit correctly. The bad part was that it didn't include pins and springs. You can use it as is, but without the pins and springs fitted to your key, any key will open it. As is, it will keep the kids from playing with the stuff in the glove box. The pins and springs correctly fitted will cost a lot more then the lock.

It's NOT keyed...PERIOD. You can lock and unlock it with your thumbnail.
I like the idea of this lock and I'm sure you could spend some money and have a locksmith properly key it. My key doesn't even fit all the way into it, but clearly it doesn't have to. It's kind of a farce. Will it keep my kids out of the glove box? Probably. Will it keep a crook out? Only if he's in a real hurry. For $20, I'll keep it.Unfortunately, it seems once you install the lock barrel in the body, I'm not seeing a way to get it back out to properly key later. I guess you can just buy another $20 kit, get it keyed properly and replace it.

Lock cylinder has to be rekeyed before it will properly lock/unlock
You have to take the cylinder to the dealer or a locksmith and have cam lock waffers and springs installed before it will lock.Update, This $20 "upgrade" costs $100 after it's all said and done. Is it worth it? At this cost probably not, but it's done and it is what it is.

Not bulletproof (it is plastic) but it keeps mitts out of your glovebox.
Just take this to a reputable (or even unreputable if you choose) locksmith and they will have it keyed to your ignition key in no time. Install after that is rated in minutes. Voila, now I have a locking glove box (that should have been standard). Yeah, a determined burglar will rip it right off the hinges, but it keeps my kids out and someone will have to go through extra work to get into it. Glad I bought it. Fit my 09 Ram 3500.

Fit like a glove
Fit like a glove. Works perfectly. Gave it 4 stars because it is all plastic. Expected the barrel to be metal. But no issues yet.

Works as advertised for my 2014 ram limited 3500. ...
Works as advertised for my 2014 ram limited 3500. Took five mins. Shame on ram though for not making this factory standard in a $70,000 truck. Plus it's cheap plastic. But mopar OEM regardless. It will at least stop an honest person. Wanted to put a gun in my glove box.
