Pluses far outweigh nonsticl surfaces
Really liked this. Grundig has some nice features the other brands do not usually have. Instead of being hinged at the rear. the height is adjustable for thicker cuts. That and the adjustable temperature make cooking really easy. It heats up fast perhaps due to the thin plates. The plates are easy to remove and clean. Opening up as a type of griddle for bacon is a nice feature also. The possible negative is that food can stick to it. In my opinion, this is offset by its usefulness and features. Cleanup is still easy and more versatile than many contact grills.

Worst thing I have bought on Amazon
I feel like this was designed in about an hour by someone who never used any other kitchen grill unit. The hinge on the grill is fixed so there is no room for a food when you close it, which means, it is smashing food closest to the hinge, while the food on the far end doesn't even touch the top of the grill (think of how a burger would fit in a book you closed it). There is an adjustment for the height of the top grill, but again, this does nothing for the issue I have with the hinge. The grill plates are very shallow, with all the grease supposedly sliding off in one little run off in one corner. So what happens, is the grease just slides off in the one corner, but not through the tiny run off. This results in the grease falling out of the grill in that general corner which a pile of grease under the whole unit. I think the designer noticed this and tried to do a quick fix by making the grease catch a little longer, but it did not fix the issue. It is a mess! The grill plates themselves are NOT non-stick. In fact, they stick more than any other kitchen unit, pot of pan I have. After grilling burgers on it, I have to pull the grill apart due to the burger sticking to both sides, resulting in a shredded up burger I have to scrap off the grill. I would not recommend buying this at all. I would even recommend Amazon stop selling this all together.

Cooks well, leaves a big mess.
I have had this for several months and used it at least 20 times. First the good, it is highly adjustable, both for thicker or thinner cuts of meat, and the heat is adjustable also. It is very versatile, not just on thickness of the meat you are cooking, but you can open it all the way and have two cooking surfaces. I especially like it for cooking chicken thighs, set on high they are done in 10-12 minutes. Also, the cooking surfaces are easily removable and can be put in the dishwasher for cleanup. I wish I could stop there and give it five stars, but I can't. It is VERY MESSY. The drip cups for collecting the grease are terrible, if you touch the grill during use the drip cups get knocked away from the grill and it drips hot grease all over your counter. Even if you manage to keep the drip cups in place you still get grease all over the counter. The design is amazingly bad for a German company. Grease splatters everywhere, each time I use it I have to spray cleanser all over it and wipe grease off the unit, and then spray and scrub the counter. I also put a thick layer of newspaper underneath it and sticking out the sides for several inches because of all the grease dripping off the sides of the grill. Also, the grill surfaces appear to be Teflon, but they do not have very good nonstick qualities. After the first use I realized I was going to need to spray oil on both surfaces so they would clean easily. If you spread newspaper under it, and are very careful with the drip cups, and remember to spray oil on the cooking surfaces, it does an excellent job with burgers, chicken, steak, other reasonably uniform flat pieces of meat. But be prepared for significant cleanup after use even with all this preparation. I have owned George Foreman grills, and a GE copy of the GF grill, and both of those were much better designed and much less messy. German engineering failed miserably this time.

A good grill
This is basically a good grill. It makes grilling easy. I don't have a bias for it, although there are flaws in its design. Its attractive, but there are some flaws. The pros of this grill is, the 12 x 10 is fairly large for home use in the kitchen to facilitate several burgers, medium size meats etc. The cons are, the grill heat adjustment is limited. This grill does not generate enough heat, although, it is hot enough to completely grill over a longer period (1 hour). The overall design is a bit awkward, because I keep knocking over the drip tray spilling the waste oil and I also get the feeling there is an important safety factor involved here with the large exposed grilling space; care must be taken to prevent oneself for getting burn. Overall, I give it a good rating.

Easy cleanup and versatile
Removable grill plates, big cooking area makes this an incredible indoor electric grill. I would recommend this grill to any of my friends and family. The various height adjustments is an added bonus. Only draw back is you don't know the exact temperature, it would be nice to have a digital temperature control, otherwise still a great product.

Drip channels & trays suck. Removable platens are nice
We had a George Foreman for a couple years, but the platens are not removable. bought this for Christmas, used it a few times, and its going to Salvation Army. The Drip channels are too shallow. Juices fall off sides if meat is pushed to the side. The drip trays are tall and unstable, and will not stay put. If the grill moves when you flip your meat, the drip trays get out of place, and now you have a mess. The removable platens work great.

Slip sliding Away ..
This grill is a pain it slides all over the counter. The drip trays suck!!!!! . When you lift the lid everything drips behind the grill on the counter . Its also bulky. The plates are easy to remove and clean but I would not recommend this item. Wish I had not purchased .

Great Product
So far sooooo good. Cleaned very easy, had no problem attaching plates back. Put it on high to cook burgers, we like ours done pretty well no pink. It just took 8 min from frozen to cooked just they way we like. It was faster than my old George Forman and a lot less money. I am very happy with mine. I would definitely recommend.
