Love Training (Yaoi)

A rushed anthology where stories feel half-finished
I didn't find anything in this manga that I actually hated, but I just didn't like it. The stories and art are lackluster, bland, dull, and forgettable. This is basically a collection of fluffy high school love confessions between cookie-cutter characters with no personalities, and no actual relationship-building occurs, just spontaneous instant-love scenarios without depth. The first story was set up to be colorful, if full of overused tropes. A high schooler has to change schools when his mother remarries. He finds out he'll have two new step-brothers: twins. Sounds like it's going to be steamy, but in fact he and one of the twins make immediate confessions to each other while the other twin never even shows his face, making you wonder how these lifeless, two-dimensional characters suddenly randomly fell in love with each other and also why it was even mentioned that one of them was a twin when his brother never appears in the manga. In the second story, it turns out that the twin who is actually in the book had a just-for-fun boyfriend whom he had no actual feelings for. When the twin starts dating his step-brother (which everyone in school thinks is adorable, as this is one of those "everyone at this school is gay" tropes), his friends-with-benefits ex finds himself lonely and jealous. A boy pretends to be a male escort just to hook up with him.In the third story, a boy is rejected by the one he loves. Then another friend makes a confession to him, so his heart is rescued because he isn't lonely anymore. The fourth story really made no sense to me. There are two children, and one tells the other that he is an alien. That could have been really interesting, but instead it just fast-forwards to high school, where one of them gets a role as Juliet in the school production of "Romeo and Juliet," and his "alien" friend has had a crush on him all those years and tells him he's not allowed to be Juliet if anyone else is playing Romeo. It would have been interesting if he had at least been an alien, but he's not... It was just a silly thing he said when he was a little kid. I don't even know why that was part of the story...And the fifth, final story was actually sort of interesting, but it's very short so it's unsatisfying. A teenager makes a confession to his teacher, who rejects him, then he grows up to become a teacher at the same school just to be close to him. But once he admits he still has feelings for the other man, he decides they should quit their jobs and run away together. It could have been interesting if there was any real plot, but it's actually just a brief discussion they both have while in the school office and it ends without any clear resolution.Altogether this manga felt rushed and unfinished with a very poor effort to tell any real cohesive stories. I think it's a case of trying to cram too many stories into a single anthology, like the author chose volume over quality. Disappointing.

Awesome
I absolutely loved this book....drama, action, and sex *cough cough* I mean love. I'd recommend this book to anyone that enjoys yaoi and the kicker was that it wasn't too cliche or sappy which was great.

Very enjoyable
I really liked Love Training. The first story deals with Koji's arrival at his new school and his introduction to his two new brothers by marriage. One of his new brothers starts putting the moves on Koji. One of Jin's moves backfires "dug his own grave." So funny. The second story continues Jin's conquest of Koji. There is explicit sex, but not hard core. The third story involves a character from the first two stories, Oohira who is approached by a student, Makoto, who has admired him from afar, but finally gets up the courage to approach Oohira when he, Makoto, is about to be transferred to a new school. Very sweet. Good sex. I loved the forehead snap and the line, "You've gotta be kidding me! Get up here- now! "Lesson 4 "Spring Training" involves a lovestruck boy whose love interest is just not interested. He'd better watch out for the guy whose always on hand to console him.Lesson 5 involves two boys who are coerced into performing the title roles in Romeo and Juliet. Now, in contrast to the review of SuperLuckyBellOnCat, Lesson 6, Love Lab, the shortest with no love scenes is my favorite. A student who was in love with his teacher was rebuffed when he confessed his love. Well, that student graduated and has now returned to his same school as teacher with one thing in mind. The one line that does it for me, is when the confident new teacher says, "You see... once I OBTAIN you, etc." I truly wish the author had shared with us the seduction. I think it would have been quite a ride.Books that I'd give 5 stars are Black Sun, Future Lovers, Vanilla, the Stepping Stone books to name a few. But I sure liked this one.

So glad I bought this!
I almost didn't get this because it's published by "June" and I prefer hard core yaoi (I feel June is more about the characters evolving and less about the sex). The characters and story line are realistic and don't let the classic love triangle plot turn you off, I thought these characters were unique in that they have real depth especially the seemingly heartless and aloof Oohira-san. All five stories take place in the same school, I had a great time reading all of them except for the last story which left me wanting. After reading this, I think I'll keep an eye on "June" titles from now on less I miss out on a gem like this. Take your time reading this book and give youself a chance to really appreciate the character's personalities, you'll be glad you did.I also recomend:My paranoid Next Door NeighborThunderbolt Boys Exciteand The Crimson Spell (for those of us that like a little humor with our smut)

I didn't like it
The story was particularly confusing - mostly - and some of the characters were a little...well..odd. I didn't feel really "in the know" with this one. I didn't even feel a love aspect or anything. And talk about moving a bit fast. Maybe it's just the way I read yaoi - I usually enjoy there to be at least an underlying love plot and some romanticness and of course some "sticky" scenes. But there were just too many things in this one that didn't fit in with my own sense of, "its a good manga". I didn't really like it - but I won't throw it out. It wasn't REALLY bad or anything, just really not to my taste.I give it a 1.6 out of 5. (The seme was very cute tho)

not great
I looked at the cover on Amazon and thought wow what a good looking book. I looked at the plot too and thought it seemed great. but when I got it and read it it was not a good plot it left me confused...and usually I'm great with manga
