Stan Approves!
It looks great and it works. My cichlids love it! I approve.ATTENTION: You MUST wash it thoroughly with water. Grab a 4 gallon bucket and drop a bag in there and let water fill it up and move the substrate with your hand repeatedly once the bucket is filled remove some of the water and repeat several times or you will have a pitch black Aquarium for weeks and your filter helps a bunch!1 pound per gallon.

My fish love this substrate
My fish love this substrate. They dig and rearrange all day. Only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because there are about 15% of white rocks in ea bag. I wanted an all black substrate.

Did I order the wrong thing?
I was lead to believe it was nearly all black, basically what I was building my tank around. Nope.

Wash, wash WASH IT!
First, it took FOREVER to wash clean. Like a whole DAY! I washed it in about 2 LB batches and the water from each batch ran BLACK for MANY rinses. Second, I shouldn't have bothered because it has so much white in it it looked terrible in my tank and I removed it. I gave it 2 stars because my fish loved it. They loved it so much they had created bare spots on the tank bottom from all the excavating.

I love this substrate and so do my fish
I love this substrate and so do my fish. It is a slighter larger size then the sand that I have in my other African cichlid tanks which makes it easier to use a gravel vac to clean it. Yet it's still small enough that even the juveniles can dig in it and move it around to suit their purposes. Great product !!!

I wouldn't really describe this as sand--more like tiny gravel
I wouldn't really describe this as sand--more like tiny gravel. It looks nice in the tank and the fish seem happy with it, so I am as well.

Looks Awesome.
This substrate looks great. I haven't checked the PH yet, but appearance wise this stuff is great. I have a 55 gal. tank and added 4 bags. I probably could've used 3, but I wanted to build up the back of the tank.
