So Many Reasons to Love This Novel
No Spoilers in My Reviews đ!This novel is one that really touched me, and it possesses a true heart that actually made me write an email to the author in thanks. I am so happy for the opportunity to read this very well-written and heartfelt novel. It's a true standout, and I took so much away from the many beautiful messages this book contains. It's got everything needed to be a brilliant work that keeps readers engaged.Kerry Fisher does an excellent job of creating characters that you come to know and are very well fleshed out. The plot is something that is truly engaging, moving well while both entertaining and revealing the perfect amount at the right times. Her setting is very well chosen and easily imagined as one reads. The characters are all very realistic, and relatable. The mysteries that are unveiled for the reader definitely have the ring of truth and all contain a message for readers. I read this book straight through, as I was so immersed in this novel. It grabbed me quickly and I had to see it through to the end.Being a bibliophile with lots of time to read and literally thousands of books read, I have only felt compelled to write an email to two authors. I am happy to let you know that Kerry Fisher is the third one. This book is one that I find very touching, as well as being an excellent read. nana fun
A good book of believable characters who were complex and full of surprises. What a book to read that almost no family is just as it seems. All families have struggles. A good book for anyone dealing with relationship questions and for young people wondering about their relationships with their parents. Overall a very good read. This rating because not all good books can get five stars. It did captivate me and I enjoyed it.

It was ok
This book was pretty good. Definitely not a gripping, canât put it down, page turner, but it was decent. The main issue for me was that I didnât understand a lot of the terminology because the book was written by an author from the UK. In America we donât say things like âbugger the rosesâ, âget off the sodding phoneâ, âknickersâ, âcrispsâ (for chips), âjetting off on a jollyâ, âblokesâ, âbollocksâ. and then all of the money references âtwenty quidâ, âfifty thousand poundsâ. So I ended up having to google a lot of words and phrases so I could understand their meaning.Other than that, it was a decent read.

I absolutley love this book, I have just recently discovered Kerry Fisher and I have so far read 2 of her books and I just love them. She has a way of keeping you enthralled and reading until your cross eyed. This book was just fantastic, the characters are very likable and real and the story was a mix of everything you want to feel when you read a great book!!!!!!!!

A Modern Take!
This page turner is not only about how we appear on social media, but also trust and building relationships.5thMost of us do not bare our souls liberally, and choose to what level we share with different people. Also, many of us temper life's commentary because we have learned humility and gratefulness. I didn't initially like the style of writng but slowly, I grew a little more comfortable. Also, my 3 as teenagers were very different, so I think the ones presented here, were somewhat stereotyped. However, a very dramatic read and I would read more!

Do not miss this one!
Such a wonderful, honest and well written book! Having just finished an excellent, but rather heavy subject matter novel I was looking for a lighter âsummer readâ. âThe Woman I Was Beforeâ was, in many ways, that lighter subject matter Iâd hoped to find. But it also offered a great deal more. The thought provoking and beautifully developed charactersâ strengths and flaws made them endearing and drew me into their world from the very first chapter. The finely crafted story (which masterfully included a gradually revealed mystery) had me reading late into the night! Kerry Fisher is obviously a gifted writer and also quite a thoughtful and wise woman, for the underlying theme of comparisons is perfectly on point in our social media conscious, image/influencer driven world. Her honesty and insight left me with uplifting thoughts and inspired me to continue pursuing an intentional and authentic life that helps and supports those around me.Thank you Kerry, for a fabulous page turner that not only highly entertained, but also left me just a little bit better for the reading. One cannot ask for more in a book! Your insights will stay with me for a very long time. Iâm downloading all of your books to savor in months to come!

Life as you see it in social media
Three women neighborsâŚone is hiding from her past; the other two hiding behind their social media posts. All were wary about coming out of hiding; one was fearful for her life, while the other two were afraid of what people might think.I totally relate to the author as someone who grew up when the internet was still unheard of. While I know of a number of my contemporaries who seem to post everything thatâs happening to them everyday, most still donât. One can really never be certain if what was posted represents whatâs real, so I love how the the social media posts of the storyâs characters were put side by side with what was actually happening in their lives.Beautifully worded, good chapter transitions, but Iâd have preferred if Becky and Kate met again, even though what would happen to them was already implied. Itâs just my OC self wanting all ends tied up.

Good read
This book is about how deceptively we portray our lives as happy-happy through social media. I enjoyed it, but it takes concentration to differentiate between all of the women characters.

Loved it
I make no secret of the fact I love Kerry Fisher's books - and this latest release was no exception. I read it in two sittings, my reading enjoyment only interrupted by the pesky requirement to sleep! The story follows three women whose lives are thrust together when they move onto the same housing development.Gisela - happily married with the requisite two children and, from the outside, appears to have the perfect life. But inside the bubble of Gisela's existence, the embers of a devastating fire are burning. Problem is, Gisela is completely oblivious to the looming disaster.Sally - the young, successful career woman with the equally (if not more so) successful, gorgeous husband. Yet the one thing she wants more than anything is the very thing she can't have.Kate - the quiet, withdrawn, single mum who keeps herself to herself - for very good reason.Ms. Fisher has the most delicious way of crafting sentences, each one so fluid, so real. I don't know whether she ruminates over them for hours and hours, choosing every word carefully, or whether the words pour onto the paper with ease. Whatever the truth, the result is sublime. This book is very 'now', its central premise focusing on how we all live our lives in the glare of social media, yet the image we work so hard to portray to the outside world, the 'perfect life' is far from the truth. The old adage 'never judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes' rings loud through the pages of this book.Highly highly recommended.

I couldn't put this down
The 'perfect life' we portray on social media is a facade. No one knows what really goes on behind closed doors. The envy and resentment we feel when we compare ourselves to another person's Instagram life are a lie. This is the main theme explored in Kerry Fisher's incredible book. Fisher is a master at creating fleshed-out, relatable characters, whose flaws endear them to the reader. She explores a slice of life with such an astute and acute lens, the reader can't help but become introspective. For readers of Liane Moriarty, Jodi Piccoult and Jojo Moyes, you will love this book.

well written domestic drama
I am a fan of this genre of story; the family/friend/neighbour 'domestic' story where the lives of these people intersect, often with an underlying hint of mystery or danger at the core. This was very well written, the characters were realistically portrayed in their actions, interactions and dialogue. The thing missing for me however was a bit more intrigue, specially surrounding Becky. I would have preferred the story to be more fraught and could see how some would find this "type" of story, and this one in particular, boring. Also I've read enough about the negative side of social media so the very obvious message of it not always being a true representation of people's lives didn't need to be spoon fed to me. Also I felt it unnecessary for Kate to have to hide her ethnicity. Made zero sense to include that.

A great read.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it highlights the good and bad about social media, whilst following the lives of families in a street. Each have their own secrets and intrigue. You can't help getting emotionally involved with the characters. Well written and enjoyable.
