The Art of Jack Henslee Paperback – January 15, 2007

I am a early retiree architect and later ad-agency CD and after that professor in both areas, plus some lecturing and writing in anthropology. Now I paint, write and illustrate books. In so doing I need a great deal of reference material, so. I bought The Art of Jack Henslee to add to my reference book collection, which has grown to the point where it is "close to pushing/forcing us to live out in the back yard," according to my wife.I found the illustrations of Jack Henslee simple, clean and finely done. They are typical of the best pin-up artists of the Playboy era, soft, slick, smooth, drawings and paintings of very beautiful women. Henslee's art is far more sedate and of far better taste, than work of those of Gluttonous younger artists which inhabit the comic books and publications like Heavy Metal, in which the breasts are overblown "Enhanced," Bubble, Basketball, Medicine ball boobs, that appear to appeal to the rather odd desires of the readers of such publications. However, most of Henslee's art is far more sedate and of far better taste, even if some of the women do have ridiculously bloated breasts. I, never the less prefer God's handiwork to that of Implant specialists.On the whole however, I prefer the powerful art of Sundblum, Elvgren, Brangwyn, Dean Cornwell or Frazetta, but The Art of Jack Henslee is a good book for those who like pin-up art in the smooth technique used by many artists. It is a good reference book for those who are simply fans or those who do illustrations of females.I would say that if you are an artist, you have little to lose by having a copy of The Art of Jack Henslee on hand, and the work is good, just personally not my cup of tea. I give it 3.75 stars, but had to settle for 4 as the above system does not allow for fractions or %.

There are 48 pages of artworks drawn with regular artist media such as conte crayons,, color pencils, pastels, based on my observation. The faces of women ranges from your typical next girl type which are likely based on live models. Also there are a few fantasies drawings of mermaids and maiden butterflies. Nonetheless, they are all rendered realistically in detail. A nice book to have which captures the regular artist media.

As an amateur and an inspiring artist, not to mention a huge fan of beautiful women displayed in such breath taking renderings, I'm always in awe! Any work done by Jack Henslee or any other artists just like his work grabs my attention immediately...as does any pretty lady!

One of the best books for drawings of the female form.

Breathtaking work! Thi is inspirational an not only does Jack capture th beauty and sensuality of young women, he shows an appreciation for how sexy women over 30 are as well!

You really need to see the book to enjoy some truely beautiful work of art

Anyone interested in old school & contemporary Pin-Up should have this book. Maybe not one for the coffee table as some of the pictures are very revealing but fascinating and very stylish. Book is A4 type format and to very thick so don't expect hundreds of pictures but the content is very good.
