A real treat for Albuquerque buffs.
I've only known Albuquerque in the 21st century, so this book opens up vast seams of information for me. It is written with perspective and a wonderful love for Albuquerque. If only I could go back and watch some of these streets actually being laid out, or witness the politicians wrangle about what to call them! The story of how so many streets were named and re-named is eye-opening. The treatment of Spanish-language nomenclature and its frequent mangling by anglophones is written with both erudition and a patient sense of humor. This is a beginning-to-end read, rather than an alphabetical look-it-up reference. The character of the city shines through it all. Excellent. You'll curl up with this book as I did.

FUN AND INFORMATIVE
I've lived in Albuquerque for a long time. OK over fifty years, shhh don't tell, like Jack Benny I am still only 39. Anyway this snappy little guide has lots of information I didn't know and was happy to discover. I still don't know how and why my street got here. Maybe in the next edition? At any rate it is a great read for Albuquerque residents ex-residents or anybody interested in how streets are named in the southwest. Well Albuquerque at least.
