Why do you need this it’s an AR? 😂🤷🏻♂️

It’s not for off the shelf AR’s. It’s for people that spend a lot of money on custom rifles or custom coatings eg. Cerakote. There’s nothing worse than messing up a $700 custom refinish job.

Is there a recommended method on how to clean the location to install this item?

Rubbing alcohol 70% Not good to use 90% on painted area's even though its a gun finish & if you only have 90% get a bottle of 50% mix it half/half will take it down to 70%.. Also everytime you wipe an area with a Cloth, Paper Towel, Cotton Ball, etc.! There is always left over lint, For something like this use some masking tape to get the lint off right before you stick this on, & Poof no more lint..!

Can you make this in black?

No it only come in clear but it’s really unnoticeable

Can this work on a sig mcx?

If it had a deflector, yes. I'm sure it does.
