There are hundreds of species of philodendron, all belonging to the Araceae family. The species most known being the monstera plant-Gruyere. Philodendron from South America. The plants are hardy, tolerate very shade and are therefore easy ornamentals. The sheet of Imperial Red is a "two-tone" and varies from dark green to red-brown, according to the incidence of light.
