Not your best choice for a Wi-Fi detector but a nice flashlight
This is not a good "out-of-the-box" detector. It will work and the price with shipping is going to be reasonable at around [..] to [...]. It's just NOT ready to go when you take it out of the packaging. The problem is the battery compartment and electrical contacts for one of the batteries. One of the batteries will most likely be dead when you get it since one set of the electrical contacts appears to be installed upside down which shorts out one of the batteries and prevents the device from working also. This is especially upsetting since there is a tiny "inspected by ." sticker on the back battery compartment. With a fresh battery in hand the unit can be made operational by bending the small clip with a pair of tweezers or possibly your finger nail and then inserting the new battery. Its a little tricky getting the battery not to pop out before you get the battery cover back on, but it can be done. Depending on the type of battery you buy, this may add another [...] to your cost. It's a fairly simple repair but you need to know how button batteries work so the device will work. Bottom line is, you shouldn't have to repair a new item to get it to work.If you do the repair correctly, the device works pretty good and has a small flashlight that comes on if you hold the button down. Due to the low cost, most people won't return the product. But, be ready to perform the repair procedure or have someone who is available for you when you open it. The unit uses two CR2032 Button batteries, so you might want to have one available. No, I would not recomend this item to anyone who isn't anxious to repair it. Also, figure the cost might be around [...] total when you are done and check out the other devices that are simular on the site for around [...] with shipping.

I just wanna see how bad this thing was or if it was as bad ...
Well now. I never thought I'd buy this but I said, what the heck. I just wanna see how bad this thing was or if it was as bad as people said it was.. Errrr. Regrets. But heres my review.Just to clarify, This thing only tells your if wifi networks are in range. Not if the wifi network is protected or not. Thats the major issue with this particular product. When it arrived I opened the package and it came with the product, manual and the batteries pre-installed. I had to take the tiny plastic ribbon off the battery to make it work. After clicking for days, it detected some networks. I didn't know how to activate the LED light. I read the manual and it doesn't tell you, nor is it clear to you how to use this thing other than just pressing the button once and getting results. After reading further, the manual is as bout' as helpful as a car being viewed on showcase. It just tells your what it does and whats in it. Later after playing with it I found out you have to hold the button to activate the light. I gave it one star because it requires WAAAAAY too much maintenance. The battery under the cover has a issue staying in place. Long story short, if the battery moves, the product stops working and just flashes red until you take out the battery and carefully, like a surgeon, place it back in. If it hits something, is over. Back to square one... Its ironic they put a keychain on it for that matter. Basically this product, due to having to undergo maintenance on arrival, makes it not worth buying.

Horrible
It was fast shipping, high expectations, ripping the package apart, OMG what will it be like... and then opening the package to find a cheap hunk of crap with some buttons and leds stuck inside. No instructions, nothing. It didn't pick up a signal in a wifi area. Flashlight never worked, broke completely on third use. Two stars because of free and fast shipping. Don't buy it, It's just a gimmic. Thankfully I got it off a gift card I earned using bing rewards so it didn't cost me anything.

junk
came with dead batteries that had to be bought and replaced. batteri compartment had electrodes that had to be bent with tweezers to make contact. it just detects wi fi , the leds give an approximate strenght, no clue as to frequency or ecryption . in short a piece of junk. better to use cell phone with dedicated program

UN-PLEASED
When I first received this item I thought it was a good product. But after a few times of using it, it began to fail. I had to constantly remove the batteries to reset it. After awhile that didn't even work. As far as the L.E.D. light that is installed, I have only seen it work twice since I've owned it. After "trying" to use this product, I definitely would not recommend it.

A Real Stinker
This stinker is a wifi detector. It is also a flash light. It is a piece of junk. Assembled improperly, it burns out one of the two batteries it uses within a day. This is, obviously, a manufacturing defect. After paying, with shipping, around $13 for this piece of crap, and trying different batteries three times, and adjusting the batter clips to make sure that they were not crossing the problem persisted. I wound up throwing this piece of s__t away.
