The Skills mats help children begin to problem solve focusing on math writing and other practical skills. From counting to fractions to handwriting practice children will learn through engaging pictorials and practice to reinforce their new abilities. EDUCATIONAL PLACEMATS FOR CHILDREN BrainyMats provide a fun learning experience even at the dining table! Children will love to color and draw on the erasable placemats all while developing new knowledge and skills from their ABC's to U.S. History and everything in between! Every mat is two-sided with color on the front and extended learnign on the back. Children can interact with the lesson by writing directly on the "write on - wipe off" mat surface. Wet erase or overhead projection markers and wipe-off crayons can be used on the laminated placemats which will easily wipe clean after meals for repeated use. This engaging play helps children lean valuable new skills - all while having a lot of fun!

Helps young writers
One side is printed so a child can trace letters and the other is cursive and once again they can trace over and practice without wasting paper. We use a finger or washable markers.

Not how I want my child to write his letters
I like this writing mat, however directions on certain letters are not at all how I want my child to actually write the letters. For instance, when writing a small “e”, instead of starting on the inside and circling around, it tells you to write a “c” first and then bring a line out to meet it. Same thing with some of the line letters like capital “M”, capital “N”, capital “W”, etc... it wants you to lift your pencil for every line. Also, the number 9 is weird too. I’ve never written a 9 like that in my life.I gave this 2 starts because the actual construction of the mat is made well and is a good size and technically does what it’s supposed to do!
