I love this story and its illustrations. A great story through the seasons for young children.

This is my first Sibylle von Olfers book and I love it! It's so beautiful I want to hand the illustrations on the wall! The story was so cute and my girls were very focused on it as soon as I started reading. I love the size, too. It's large and just feels special!

Simply an adorable children’s book! Had this in Germany growing up and looooved it, still loving is to this day…bought this as a present! The artwork is beautiful and will stay with the reader!

This is a wonderful book and very hard to find. These folks had it. It arrived almost immediately.I’m impressed with their service and catalog of books.Will order from them again.

Created inspiration for imaginative play. Immediately following the first read, my 2-year-old and 5-year-old began playing “Root Children and Mother Earth” putting each other to bed and guiding one and other in completing activities, and letting each other out into the world.I was surprised it was a short book, but it was well worthwhile just for the new game they created!

I really like this book, my daughter is coming around to it. It’s a very long story, which I wasn’t expecting. But the graphic illustrations, I’m obsessed. It’s adorable, and the story of the children celebrating the coming of spring and summer is so whimsical. It makes a great bedtime book, I have a hard time getting my little one to sit still long enough during the day time to read this fully to her.

I found this because the title had Root in it.. I look for things using key words or thoughts to see what fun stuff I can find.. The illustration on the cover caught my attention. The inside illustrations continued to be beautiful and follow right along with the story. I love that it is smaller. I will purchase all of Sibyl von Oifers stores to have a complete collection.

My grandmother introduced me to this book 60 years ago and it was one of my favorite books. I bought it for my friend who teaches at a Waldorf School.

The size is perfect for wee hands and the images and words are enchanting.

A timeless tale accompanied with the most beautiful illustrations. Great for lovers of nature.

That’s one of the most valuable books in out collection. Both the story and illustrations are beautiful and soothing, perfect for bed-time reading when transitioning seasons. The size of the book and the big pictures make it even more enjoyable. At the same time it is not heavy and the child can handle it and look through it by herself. Would strongly recommend it. We have now ordered the Gift collection as well and looking forward to it.

ねっこのこども　日本人にはあまりなじみの無い発想で、どんなえほんになるのかとおもっていたのだが、大変美しい一冊だ。母なる大地、ねっこのこども、虫たち、が織り成す春から夏への叙事詩。それがオルファースの手で簡潔でやさしくまとめられている。文章もシンプルなので　読むにも苦にはならず、幼子への自然教育としてもお勧め。　原著では　ねっこたちのいえである母なる大地が表紙となっており、茶色を基調としたやわらかい色彩が　温かい雰囲気をかもし出し　とてもすばらしい。　しかし　この英語版は　明るい絵が前面に押し出された形なのが残念。内容には申し分ないのだが、その点で☆４つ。
