This is entirely plastic, including the gripping teeth so it will be gentle on the metal. However, the teeth are only along 1 side so, in my case, the small fine chain slipped through. I also found this to be very difficult to master (yes, I was that kid who was picked last on the gym class sports teams). I found that taping the chain to my wrist then opening and hooking the lobster claw was much easier than trying to manipulate this tool.There will be no Nobel Peace prize nomination for the person who invented the lobster claw clasp. Ridiculously difficult which is proven by the fact a special tool is made to assist with this.

I've been wanting something like this for ages and never remember to look when I'm shopping, it's always when I go to wear a bracelet that I remember I need/want one. I could easily make something like this myself, but let's be honest, I'm too lazy. I absolutely love it. Looks pretty and works well.

This is great. The whole thing is plastic so there are no sharp metal teeth scratching my jewelry but it still looks really nice. it arrived quickly and works great.

Don't order this bit of plastic junk. I took it out of the box, tried it to see how it worked. It broke immediately when I tried to use it. The tip that holds jewelry or whatever you're using it for is plastic. When you squeeze it to open the tip, it just breaks. It only gets one star because that's the fewest available. Really, the manufacturer in China should be dropped from Amazon's suppliers.
