Slices well, and that's all I need it to do. Have been going through several pounds of apples to prepare them for dehydrating, and am pleased with the results. Easy to adjust thickness, slices even every time, with very little leftover. Have also done red onions and produced wafer-thin slices. Can't compare to other mandolins, but would like to point out that when holding on to the the assembly that consists of the knob, guard, and spikes that hold the fruit or vegetable, don't think of the guard as something you can rest your palm or any part of your hand on, because it it not big enough to protect your hand from the blade. (No, I don't have large hands, and yes, I managed to cut myself once by over-estimating how effective the guard is.) The large mandolin fits well over a common ice cube storage bin. Pleased with what I got for the money, and will wait and see how long the blade stays sharp and the mandolin holds up. If I had paid any more, I would complain that the large mandolin should be about 2 inches longer: the approach to the cutting blade is long and you can get up some speed for a clean cut, but after passing over the blade, the "landing" is too short, making it difficult to achieve and maintain a fluid back and forth motion.

I thought for $14.95 it was a bit pricey for as often as I need to zest, but it is sturdy and well made and came with a cover and I don't believe in buying several cheap versions when I could have just bought the expensive model for the same price of the cheaper ones that I'd be dissatisfied with. The zester did a wonderful job on our lemons, garlic and ginger, quickly and efficiently unlike my regular vertical time consuming grater. My only complaint is, it is wicked sharp (which is good) but it left battle wounds on both my husband's and my knuckles in several places. We tried multiple ways to grip it after each ouch occurred, but couldn't seem to avoid it. If you don't mind a little extra blood in your zest or are more coordinated than we are, this is a great zester.

Would get 5 stars if the cutting guard fit into the mandolin like the small one does. It would make storage so much easier. Otherwise, these things work wonderfully. The dial on the bottom makes it unbelievable easy to adjust the thickness of your slices. Does it waffle cut? No. Will it dice? No. Does it cut french fries. No. Actually...the answer is yes. I simply stack my slices and run my knife through the stack. Perfect fries, and I have chopped onion the same way....extra fine for salsa, thick for soups and sauces...and everything in between for garnishes for hot dogs or tacos All around good value..

I like it because it cuts very well.There is a very nice small cup that makes it easy to cut with the small device.Two small issues:(1) It is not very versatile - if it had additional cutting / shredding knife it would be nice. Also, if it had a larger cutting size it would be very helpful for those who like bigger (or normal size) pieces.(2) they recommend not using the dishwasher because of the blades, but rather to clean it by hand. So it is a bit annoying to do that every time I cut something, and over time the surface stops being white.

These two red/clear mandolin-type slicers are the best I've ever had. I got rid of some in the past because they were hard to use. Both have an easy lock feature to engage immediately when finished slicing for safety from the razor-sharp blade. I used the larger one for eggplant and potatoes (chips) with no problems; adjustment dials are great (same dial to lock). The food has small holes where the pegs pierce to hold, no problem, but I think I pushed the food too far down anyway. Food sliced all the way to the end (impressive). The little one is unique as another reviewer stated because it lock-slides in a groove on the base and the food is in a little container on top so no pegs to pierce. I experimented a little; should be no problem slicing garlic and other small foods. Both were very easy to clean; happy with the quality.

I love to cook, and I also love buying new equipment for my kitchen. This grater is my latest purchase. I had not owned anything from this brand before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I would not hesitate to purchase from this company again. The grater is built solidly, the blade is sharp, and I like that it comes with a plastic blade cover for storage. It does a great job on lemons. The zest it produces is of good consistency, and the grater is nice and sharp. I also tried it out on a bit of fresh nutmeg I wanted to add to a squash soup, and it did great with the nutmeg as well. Bottom line; I would recommend this grater to anyone looking for a new hand-held grater. I like it a lot, and I expect to be using it for many years.

I bought this set of mandolins and loved it. It is very nicely made, quick and easy to cut up vegetables, bright orange color, looking much better than a low quality picture of the product on this website. Ordered another one as a gift for a person who has orange theme in her kitchen. The second one I received came in dark blue color. I am disappointed that I cannot use this as intended due to color difference. Description of the product does not address color variations, thus 4 star review. If you are particular about what color you want, beware. Quality-wise I would give it a 5 star.

Super and well-made mandolin slicer at a very low price. Vegetables slice up easily and fast, thin to thick, pending on thickness desired. Simple but efficient design that does typical daily kitchen slicing jobs in the fraction of the time than with knives. Cleanup is quick and easy Stores away safely as slice thickness adjustment dial allows the blade to go into a covered position for storage and safety. I've only tried the smaller slicer a few times for things like olives ... and it also gets the job done well for those smaller items.
