SchradeMini Axe/Saw Combo 12in Survival Axe with 6.9in Saw and Rubber Handle for Outdoor Survival, Camping and Everyday Carry

As with most of my other reviews, I hold back on recommendations until I’ve put my gear through their paces, and only the truly impressive ones are ever worth mentioning, let alone attaining 5 star status. After 1 year of reasonable use, this is where we stand:Ergonomics and balance are impressive, enabling precision control and noticeable impact. Even when I'm off and end up striking a rock, there's been no noticeable damage to the blade. The wood saw is a masterful touch, and I’m impressed with how well the handle holds up despite being hollow to accommodate it.No bends, no breaks, and absolutely no reservations in recommending.

I'm very pleased with this tool. It came sharp but don't expect razor sharp. Buy a 5$ dule sided aluminum oxide sharpening stone and sharpen it yourself. The handle is plastic and not the best ergonomic grip. The saw is very long and that is absolutely razor sharp. It's a good size and weight and is perfect for fire wood collection and processing and small wood tool crafting. I like the locking feature on the blades sheath for safety. It's a good priced tool and it's a good size and weight for hiking and camping. It's also aesthetically pleasing.

But the head is fastened with thin plastic so I doubt this thing will last forever. That said, it's done well to hack up some firewood.

It works great. Saws like a champ. The hammer head it durable. It is a great camp axe with the compact design that serves many purposes which is my goal when purchasing camping items. I would rather bring one tool that can do the job of 4 like this than 4 tools. They do the jobs well too. The locking mechanisms for the saw blade works very effectively and in different articulated angles. Supper HAPPY!

I have only used this twice, but it was useful both times - once to lop off twigs, and the other time on the hammer side to pound out a jammed hitch pin. I only did a small saw test in the yard - would do OK in a pinch. It's a good multi-use tool...but I got greedy and went for this one with the embedded saw. The quality is good, with everything solid, but because it accommodates the saw, it has to sacrifice comfort in the hand. I would have done better to just get a Schrade without the embedded saw. As things go, I need to bring the bow saw anyway...I guess this can be a backup.

For those that read this confused on the sheath, when you first get it its a bit tight, but after the first opening its easy. Push up hard on the top latch until it opens then slide off. The Axe is pretty good but no silky saw, but a great added bonus. The hollow center handle for the saw sheath doesn't effect the performance or toughness of the axe at all. I personally only had use for the axe so I did a paracord wrap for the handle and its even better! Do recommend.

nicely weighted hatchet, two position locking saw has aggressive teeth for cutting wood, sheath cover has a little thumb nub to slip over the catch to remove, the sheath is firmly seated when on the blade. It should do fine on the beach to chop up kindling for a fire. Regardless, don't forget the lighter fluid !!

The Axe is nice and doesn't seem too cheap in product although it is plastic.Blade - not sharp at all.Clap holding the cover over the axe - had to use another tool to pull it off. Too difficult. There should be a better design on how to open it.Saw - I can't even get that to open outwards. Even when trying with another tool.

Solid piece of kit. I don't agree with the rest of you cry babies. Perfect for collecting birch bark and other tasks. Love the safety features. The guards shouldn't come off easily. The black button for the saw requires some play, sometimes. Locks into place and it works. Convinced a buddy at work to get it and he loves it.

Solid and well made. Took it camping for a few days and used it for everything. The saw cut through a 5 inch piece of wet branch easily. Used the hammer end to drive tent pegs in and the axe side to cut wood. Well balanced too. Thumbs up here.

quality tool, so handy! perfect to carry in the bush/on the quad

Have used this for a couple of camping trips so far and loving it’s dual purpose. Works really well.
