Not for the weak at heart
The plot thickens then twists, almost enough to think you might have this figured. Then out of nowhere another twist along the way.Characters were interesting, indeed reflective of an ever changing sense of morality with attitudes about sex that many have not been prepared for. Undercurrent of good vs evil . Plus glimpses into how our ideals, our morals, our view of parenting can effect our abilities to listen without judgement biased by those standards we grew up with.An interesting study of human relations and interactions.

Weight of Silence in review
Gregg Olsen is a gifted writer but the entire plot was weak and somewhat lacking in believable substance. Somewhat depressing!

So good I couldn’t put it down! Gripping and raw and wonderful loved the sequel to the first book which left me hanging!

Well, I didn’t expect the ending that’s for sure! This is the second in the series and anxious to read the third one!

Oh No!
This picked up three years after the previous book ended. It was nice to see Nicole rebound and get her life together. The cruelty of intentionally hurting a baby was disturbing, but made for an interesting storyline. I was so curious about what actually happened to the little girl. Her parents were so awful. I wasn’t expecting Nicole’s complicated relationship with her sister to still be an issue. That element was interesting, but distracted from the heart of this story at times. Their wild ending made it all make sense. Nicole’s dark side was something else.

Good one!
I lost the whole weekend because I couldn’t stop reading. Great character development. I was totally misdirected in solving the murder and the relationship between the sisters. ‘Nuff said.

Good book
Very similar to book one. Young child murdered and detectives are after murderers. Liked the first book a bit better. This one was well written and author has ability to really paint a picture with words. Amazing actually.

Good Book
It kept me wondering, and loved the ending, but Nicole got a little to whiny, at points in this book. I really do like Gregg writing style.

Couldn't put it down
Olsen is a very gifted writer. Excellent characters, but this story lacks credibility. I will try another novel by him, he deserves it

A pretty good read
You get two stories for the price of one in this book with parallel plot lines about different murders committed for differing motives. An entertaining read.

The death of a baby an emotive story is set as a detective mystery.
I liked the story with it’s twists and turns. Nicole’s personal life overtook the main storyline and I found this intrusive.

Nicole Foster is a cop who's career is in tatters until she gets a second chance. She has to investigate what appears to be an accident, a child left in a hot car. A father who protests he forgot she was there. A mother, a nurse who's adamant her husband wouldn't deliberately leave their daughter to die baking inside the oven which was the back seat of the car. This case brings back bad memories for Nicole of the case that basically shattered her career. As the case starts to unravel and Nicole learns the horrible truth of the toddlers death her own life starts to unravel with the presence of her sister whom she hasn't seen or heard from in years. We learn her father is in a care home, Alzheimer's. Her mother, a narcissist abandoned them all when she was a child. Her sister, who's her father favourite is just like her mum, a narcissist that always gets her own way even if it's by committing murder. Nicole is the guardian of her sisters daughter. Although wrong, Nicole tells the child her mother is dead, believing she would never darken their door again. Nicole was wrong.I really enjoyed this book. I picked it up after reading the review of a friend, curious if I saw the same kind of view he did about the author and female lead. Nicole is such a strong female lead in the book that I do agree that forgetting the author is male can be done. I find most times that a male author doesn't nail female lead as well as Gregg Olsen did. That isn't a dig at other male authors at all so please don't take it that way 😊.The book wasn't fast paced like I expected it to be. But a nice slow gradual undertaking of all events, past and present taking place. A novel idea which I have never seen done before in any other books I have read is the way the author did the opening scene and the end scene. Nicely done 😊.
