Heydrich: Dark Shadow of the SS Hardcover – September 27, 2018

What few books I have read dealing with Heydrich have been full of authors opinions and just plain outright BS. Max Williams really dug in and did his research. For me it was what I would consider a "slow read". Very detailed but never ever boring. I have just purchased Max Williams 3 volume set on the SS, on the strength of the detailed work put into this book on Heydrich. Book also has several hundred photos, many I have never seen and I have been reading books on the Third Reich for about 50 years. If you want the quintessential book on Heydrich, look no further.

I have had a strange facination about Reinhard Heydrich for a while now. Being the grandchild of an American WW2 soldier and of a German Jew that narrowly escaped Germany alive makes the subject matter more important.The fact one man is credited with so many lives lost AND appeared to be an excellent sportsman and a loving father, proves (to me) that good and evil are not mutually exclusive.There is a lot of info out on the interweb that is misunderstood at best and flat out lies at worth all bound with a pretty ribbon of truth.I had heard how well done the book was so I took a chance in purchasing it. Now? I am looking forward to reading the author's other works.What made Mr. Williams book so interesting for me was the number of pictures that have their origins made known. There were so many moments of oh THATS what it was.The book is beautiful. It makes a lovely piece for a collection. It is also incredibly interesting.Kudos Mr. Williams.

This book is essentially a massive Heydrich and friends photo album. I’m curious how the author located most of these and received permission to reprint. I highly recommend this to anyone researching the evil behind the Holocaust. It is worth its cost.

The study of history is not only rewarding but also shows what Solomon meant when he said there was nothing new under the sun. Men constantly repeat themselves in everything even here in the US.

This book was removed from Amazon UK and I wonder why?The book contains nothing offensive or hateful. It does NOT glorify a horrible and evil man, nor does it put any gloss on the horrible acts he committed. This is a biography of Heydrich - in pictures, in much the same was as the two movies about him. The book is fact-based citing various sources, diaries and accounts.Is this Amazon censorship gone out of control? This book has been recommended for courses as a source book and it is now impossible to obtain it in the United Kingdom!
