My preferred shea butter
I have tried probably about 10 different brands of shea butter and this is my favorite! It is consistent with no debris. The texture and natural smell is great. Best of all, it works well as a moisturizer on its own, or used as part of DIY moisturizers when mixed with other oils and/or essential oils. I also like the packaging. It comes sealed and secure with no leaking and no mess.

Great quality and great price!
I use this shea butter for soap but there are so many other beauty applications to use this in! Love this company! Great ethics and higher standards than most others when it comes to oils and butters.Definitely will buy again!

Outstanding
I can only echo Laura Wilson's review. I was apprehensive about ordering without trying the product first, since quality for many of the shea butters seems to be uneven. Also, the fact that the reviews are all dated around the same time raises questions for me. But now I see why people are commenting on this butter. The shea butter I received from Essential Depot. Inc. at the end of February 2013 arrived intact, with a sealed foil sheet under the lid. The butter has a mild smell that does seem natural. I am very sensitive to odors, and don't find this strong or objectionable. It is a bit grainy at first; both the smell and the grains disappear immediately once the butter is worked into the skin.I live in a dry, cold climate, cook every day and wash my hands frequently. It's become increasingly impossible as I get older to find a moisturizer that keeps my hands smooth. This shea butter beats my former favorite, Aveda's Hand Relief (currently $21 for 4.2 oz.) out of the ball park. I imagine this butter would work into the skin even faster in a warmer climate. The butter is a tiny bit oily at first, but quickly absorbs and keeps skin moisturized even after hand washings--a first in my experience. I do not like oily moisturizers, though I have resorted to using straight olive and almond oils when I was desperate to protect my hands.Organic is important, so I was delighted to find this product. The fact it has no added scent is good for me and the environment. After using this butter for the last week, I find it to be absolutely the best hand/heel moisturizer I've ever tried, and I've tried many. I'm not related/employed in any way by the supplier, or Amazon, but am very happy to have discovered this product. I've already shared it with many friends.

Nice quality and consistency but very smokey smelling
I make own body butter because of sensitive skin and I occasionally put it on my nose and lips in the winter. Works great for me and I don't get break outs 👌I Really like the consistency of this shea butter and It whips up well.I think my only complaint(4stars) is the smell. Which I know is natural but it is VERY smokey smelling and if you don't mix it with the right oils it can strangely smell almost like cigarettes (Atleast to me) when initially applied onto skin/hair. It mellows out after awhile.Earthy/Woody smelling oils are best. I made a third batch and used anise and chamomile along with some other oils and it smells wonderful. 2nd back was Patchouli and that was good too.I recommend not mixing Coco butter, which I put in my first batch, it smelled...strange... and I hate wasting so I used it anyways.ha!Anyway it's a good value for what you get and if youre into making your own butters or lotions or whatever it's definitely worth the money because alot of the good quality stuff out there is pretty expensive, hence why I went this route and it's not hard to make either.

I have been ordering from this company for a few years
I have never had any issues with my shea. This is pure stuff and better than the shea I purchase at the store. I think the problem is people expect it to be like shea in the store that is not pure. I use this for "everything" I use it in my hair, I have the Puertorican kinks and this works better than any straightening gel, I put a pinky amount in my hand and rub my hands together till it Melts and then run it through my dry hair, then use an flat iron or hair dryer and my hair gets super straight. But you can't put "too much" like just barely. where it's just barely on your hands. A little goes a long way. I also use this every night on my face and neck, just rubbing it in until it melts from my body temperature on my face and neck. It's the best moisturizer. I swear by this stuff. I also make a exfoliating scrub with this, and fine salt, if I pour salt into this and rub on my face, I watch dead cells just fall off in clumps. My skin is silky soft and it protects my skin from uv rays too! This is my EVERYTHING in a bottle.
