Ludovico Einaudi: Graded Pieces For Piano - Preparatory To Grade 2: Preparatory - Grade 2

Exceptional for grown-up beginners
Firstly, anyone whose moaned about the book being thick and difficult to keep the pages open… get a grip! Or get some pegs!I’m new to piano but having played Clarinet for over 30 years; most music books are thick and have tough binding - simply bend the book open like ALL other music books. This piano book is perfect. It’s fine, it’s nice quality paper and easy to read manuscript. I’ve not needed the lessons, but there are lessons to help the new player work out the rhythm. It’s a nice detail. The music itself are pieces from Ludovicio’s collection which have been shortened and simplified for the beginner. I randomly one day decided to start learning piano (as our middle child has started lessons) - I could already read music and obviously know where the keys are so just had to figure out the bass clef and make myself do two different things at once. I was able to play the first piece in a couple of hours (so it can’t be that hard). So far I’ve learnt to play a handful of pieces from the book. I’m so thrilled to be able to play lovely tunes at a level my brain can cope with! I would say it’s up to Grade 2 and anyone new to music would take longer - it’s certainly not too basic at all!I’ve also purchased the next ‘level’ book up but this is far too tricky for me at the moment. I cannot wait to be able to play some of the same pieces at a greater depth and complexity. This book is lovely simple piano music for the beginner without being patronising or boring. I also managed to make my husband cry. Happy tears.

Beautiful book, free app, very well designed
I just received this, so I have yet to start it, but I am already blown away by its quality. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful visual design of the whole thing and the quality of the book, the paper etc. Probably not what you think of, but you appreciate it when you see it. Italians are renowned for design, so I can't help wondering if Einaudi had a hand in this himself! It has a decent number of songs (20), including some of my favourites, like Primavera and Experience, and it's sensibly built up in terms of difficulty. There are written tips at the start of each piece - a brilliant idea - and a free app, where you can listen to all the songs and then practice while it listens to your actual playing.Honestly, I can't think what else they could have done to make Einaudi accessible for people like me, who want to get back into piano after many many years. Can't wait to get started!

Great book for beginners with a bit of experience
If you like Einaudi but the full scores are a pipe dream because you are a beginner of mature years this is a book that gets you playing some of the simple melodies. The pieces are graded so you can expand your repertoire as you improve. The pieces are a pleasure to play and sound good to the non-pianist audience. It would be great if other modern composers produced similar graded books of their works. My daughter would have loved this when she was learning as a child 25 years ago.

Music with a soul
I had this collection of sheet music delivered today and I can already tell it will be one of my most cherished reference books for years to come.Simply incredible quality, the app works well and the audio and sounds check features will be very helpful in learning those exquisite pieces by Ludovico. If you’re reading this review and you’re unsure if the book is worth £17+, please know it’s worth every penny of it and more.

Great for a beginner that wants a more interesting challenge
I love this! As a returning adult beginner I want to be inspired be something I really want to play rather than simple exercises and this is perfect. The pieces are increasingly difficult so it has the feel of a progressive course about it which was just what I need.

The PERFECT piano book for beginner pieces
Absolutely amazing book. The music is all at a level which I can actually play (with some practice!) and still sounds great. I feel like I’m actually playing something I want to play which is a really nice feeling. I have found the app works great too, can play audio of each piece so I can hear what it should sound like, and can also practice it using the app too. This is definitely by far my favourite piano book now. Each song is usually a couple of pages with a page of practice bits for it on the page before, which is just the right amount for me as a beginner.

Preparatory exercises really make learning the exam pieces much easier.
This book contains exactly what it describes, skill level pieces designed for exams, NOT FULL or ORIGINAL scores. For example, for Nu ole Bianche it has a Preparatory Exercise page that has you learn and practice the recurring right hand melody, then the left hand melody (both separate), then it combines the two. After those are quickly mastered it takes you to the actual 1 or 2 page piece to learn. The prep pieces really facilitate learning the exam piece very quickly. It also. Omes with an interactive website that allows you to hear exactly how everything is supposed to sound and it uses your mic to grade you on how your practice is coming along. Very inspiring to encourage you to learn the Beginner, Intermediate, or Original pieces.
