Q: I notice salt in the ingredients of the Purina products but not the others. Does anyone know why? Also, the kitten formula has colostrum in it ?

It help with flavor no doubt. Cats do require some salt as does everybody else who is living but I think it helps them to drink a little more often as well. I always add a bit of water to my cats wet food it helps in the prevention of crystals in the urine to keep them hydrated.

Q: Is there any reason the purina pro plan chicken and rice dry food for kittens would not be good for adult cats also?

I believe all puppy and kitten dry food contains much higher levels of protein that could be detrimental to an adult cat. With that said, I would ask your vet. They would be able to tell you.

Q: How long should my kitten be on this food before switching to an adult formula?

Generally they say one year because kitten formulas have extra protein for young kittens.

Q: Why does this cat food make my cat meow much more than the meow mix cat food?

I bought this as a charitable donation for a large sanctuary who cares a great deal about animals including cats and kittens. I have never used it myself. It was on their Amazon wish list so I have to assume this is a great product.
