Having done 5 snowboard seasons I’ve been through more gloves than I wish to think about, and to be honest I’m kinda bummed no one came up with this idea a bit sooner! As a full-time filmmaker I get a decent amount of use from these gloves on a regular bases and always pack them for those colder shoot days. Here’s a few reasons why they work so well…1. Removable finger tipsThis is clearly the USP as I’ve definitely never seen it done before. Taking photos with gloves on is usually a massive joke, it doesn’t work. In the past I’ve always braved it and frozen my fingers to death as going through settings on a camera with bulky sausage-like fingers can be an extremely painful exercise. There’s little magnets that keep the tips flipped open too which is a nice touch so they don’t flap around and get in the way. Overall this is the best feature I think I’ve ever seen on a pair gloves, also works great for using your phone and texting etc.2. The liningI imagine almost everyone who’s been skiing or snowboarding has had issues with taking off their gloves and the lining comes out with your fingers, stuffing it back in can be quite a task and I even had a pair of gloves (from a well established expensive brand) that I simply never got the lining back into the correct fingers and had to chuck them. The lining in these however is perfectly stitched in and even if I try to pull it out it just ain’t coming! It’s also made from merino wool which puts them on the less bulky side but still killer warm.3. Non slip gripThe palm and inner side of the fingers is covered in an awesome non-slip material. This is pretty handy for holding my snowboard but I noticed it most with carrying Peli cases and larger boxes of camera kit. In freezing conditions with ice and frost all over our cases, carrying a heavy one can be a real nightmare but having that bit of extra grip has been a huge help. I’m sure this would also be pretty handy for keeping a good hold of your après pints!5. SD card pocketA decent addition, I use the pocket in one hand for a spare SD card and keep ear plugs in the other one as I often work in pretty loud environments. Doesn’t feel awkward at all when there’s stuff in there and the zip is barely noticeable too which is nice.In a nutshell, I’d recommend these gloves for anyone who takes photos or uses their phone in a cold environment. Worth every penny and feel durable enough to take a good beating - I doubt I’ll need to buy another pair for a while! Highly recommended
