WARNING: if you order this, you are *only* getting the electric light kit --- NOT the entire sun tunnel. I read previous reviews on this product that, combined with the price, led me to believe I was ordering an actual skylight system. Nope. You're paying $343.00 for the electric light kit alone. Entirely misleading, but nevertheless, you can get the light kit from another dealer for around $60.00. Don't pay this price for an accessory.

Works great

We just had a new roof installed and took advantage of the opportunity to add 2 of these SunTunnels, one in an interior hallway and one in a windowless bathroom.We were completely happy with everything about these skylights, except that the color temperature was too "bluish". It looked like a fluorescent light fixture. That would have dropped my review to 4 stars, but I was able to find a solution and am now totally happy with the skylights.I searched around a bit on the web and was able to find color filters made specifically to shift color temperature from Rosco. I wanted to go from 5500k daylight to 3000-4000k. I ordered a few filters in 1/4CTO and 1/8CTO so I could stack them and go from 1/8 to 1/2 in 1/8 increments.I ended up using a 1/8 CTO http://www.amazon.com/Rosco-Cinegel-Roscosun-Correction-Lighting/dp/B000B73PEK/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1365949293&sr=8-9&keywords=rosco+ctoand a 1/4 CTO http://www.amazon.com/Rosco-CTO-20X24-Amber-RS340911/dp/B000B7A3C2/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1365949342&sr=1-2&keywords=rosco+cto+1%2F4stacked, for about a 1500k shift.The filters were easy to trim to size and lay on top of the diffuser.The light is now very close to an incandescent, probably around 4000k, but isn't amber. There is some reduction in brightness, but we are in Texas, so there is plenty of light :) I was a little worried that the diffuser would look yellow on the inside, but it is so close to white that you don't notice any difference at all.Previously people would walk in and say "wow, that is a really blue skylight", now they don't even realize it's a skylight at all, they think it's just a ceiling fixture.

My contractor installed this system several days ago in a shadowed area of my kitchen. Was not sure if this product would provide the amount of natural light I wanted but gave it try. I was amazed at the results. The house has ten foot ceilings and the amount of light this system provides is amazing. Very bright white light and therein lies the only downside. The light the Velux sun tunnel produces is a bright blue-white type. Seems unnatural looking just like the blue-white light of a huge LED. The kitchen is earth tone and the blue-white light is completely out of place.Will be replacing the ceiling acrylic diffuser with a Tap Plastic special cut acrylic 21" tinted disk, that should do the trick. Other than the color of light this system produces, I highly recommend it. Also would highly recommend Velux make available a warm white color diffuser option. If that were available, this product would get five stars.
