Men's Motorcycle Vest Genuine soft Leather Black Handmade

Upon receiving the vest, there was a combination of a leather and musty type smell. Evidently the vest was sealed in plastic after the manufacturing and leather tanning process. The quality, fit and looks were all excellent. I ordered my normal size and it fit perfect.I hung it out on a covered deck for 2 weeks and all that was left was a faint leather smell. The other smell was gone.

I really like it, but I found that with it fitting perfectly across across the chest, the waist was a little large, but that is probably because my body is not typical. So I ripped the seam from one side almost up to the armpit, and then hand sewed it, starting one inch in on the bottom and angling up to the original seam at the armpit. Just used a strong needle and I have almost no experience doing things like that. I cut off the extra and glued down the lining, and it turned out to where no one would ever know it had been altered without very close inspection. I was going to sew both sides, but after doing one side it fit right and it doesn't look lopsided at all, so I left it like that. With a vest this inexpensive, I wasn't afraid to experiment to get a perfect fit. I'm surprised how warm it is. I wear it to church and out to dinner, and under my motorcycle jacket as a warm layer on cold rides. The huge inside pocket is a bonus.

I'm delighted with the quality and appearance of this vest. As stated by others, the size might be a bit misleading, others suggested buying a slightly larger size. I normally need a Large or XL depending upon the item, the manufacturer & the application. I ordered the XL and it was spot on perfect! I wear a vest for a little warmth, wind resistance (we live in CO), and pockets. The nice oversize pockets are perfect for my wallet, cell phone, reader glasses, 4-compartment pill box, a large comb with handle and a pen. Everything I need. I generally wear it over a T-shirt or sleeved dress shirt. It is very stylish and appropriate for everything from the most casual to dressy occasions. The quality is excellent and appearance striking. It also has two large inside pockets (one on each side) which are big enough to carry a checkbook, large envelope or other similar-size items.

Great fit. Well made. Really beautiful leather for the price. No particular problem with the musty odor mentioned by some. If there was any slight "processing odor," it was gone a couple of hours after opening the package. The only problem I had with it was a couple of large blotchy, shiny patches that looked like some sort of puddling from either black dye or some sort of leather processing chemical. But after I took the advice of some other reviewers on this Web site and rubbed the vest down with a leather cleaner/conditioner, it came out with a really beautiful, buttery sheen like high-quality leather that made a very handsome vest. It took a little rubbing to achieve it -- but at this bargain price, it was worth the extra effort to get such a really nice vest.. But if it had cost much more, I would have expected the manufacturer to do all this work to produce a completely ready-to-wear product instead of forcing the customer to do that finishing work.

I got this for my husband for Christmas. When I got it I thought it was really nice & the leather is so soft. The problem I have is not about the vest, it's my husband, I didn't know he wanted a patchwork vest. I was thinking this vest would be wonderful for church. He still hasn't worn it but says since I couldn't return it (I had it way to long is why I couldn't return it & I"ve had it in my dresser drawer) & I still have it he was going to at least wear it once in a while. I still have to get him the patchwork vest. :) I really loved the vest when I received it & couldn't wait to give it to him. The vest is made well & is well worth the money I paid for it, in fact each time my husband has looked at it he has been impressed about how nice it feels, the leather used & the price I paid plus most important it was made in the USA. So all in all the vest it great.! I love the smell of leather & so that is another feature I like about it. I would recommend this vest to anyone,

This is a well made vest. If you look at most vest advertisements you will see that there are a lot of people who don't understand that vests are worn tighter than most garments. That is why you see a lot of people claiming they run smaller than usual. They came from waist coats which are typically a tighter fitting garment. So if you want a loose fit buy a size larger.Now to why I rated this well made vest only three stars. There is no free lunch here! I own a gun leather business so I was thinking of making a vest but at 20 dollars for a leather vest I couldn't even lay it out for that let alone cut and sew it! This vest has be treated or stored in some place that has given it an odor that even the dullest of noses will notice. That is why I presume the price is so ridiculously low. I have tried to get the smell out and have been marginally successful. If moldy or the smell of something that has been stored in a damp warehouse for years doesn't bother you or you have no problem airing it out for days with Febrese deodorant sprayed all over it and still having some of the smell then go for it.

I am 6'2" tall and weigh about 230#. I usually wear an XL, but I ordered a 2XL because I read the vests run a little small. The 2XL fits just right for what I will use it for riding a motorcycle. I will often wear it over one or two thick long sleeve sweat shirts in the cooler months. In the warmer months I will wear it over a short sleeve Tee shirt and I will want it a little bit loose to allow some cooling wind in. If I were to order another one for a more dressed up church type of vest (and I probably will order another one), I would want a slightly tighter fit and would probably go for an XL. For the price, the vest looks very nice. The buttons all work right. There is a strong fresh leather smell, so I hung it up in the garage to air it out for a few days before I wear it anywhere. The shipping was fast.
