Men's Eco-Drive Weekender Nighthawk Chronograph Watch in Black IP Stainless Steel, Black Dial (Model: CA0295-58E)

I needed a new watch but I’m pretty selective. I looked at a lot of different colors, options and styles before I decided I really like the blackout style. That’s only the beginning, now that I had the color and style, I had to choose a brand, my necessary options and the right ‘look’ for my tastes. I checked out watches from $25-$2k. This watch fits all of my criteria but one. I needed more than ‘splash resistance’ some watches have. They might look good but I don’t want humidity or a light sprinkling rain ruining a watch. This watch is good enough to swim and snorkel with. I wanted stainless steel or titanium and this watch is stainless steel, black. I didn’t want a ‘light’ or different colored hands, I wanted black. This one is, ALL BLACK. The hands do have some luminescence to them, just enough to make out the time when you wake up at night groggy. Perfect. I looked at a lot of brands and chose Citizen and the Eco-drive for their reviews and customer satisfaction. The only thing I would think should be upgraded is the crystal to sapphire. Lacking that, the watch is one step from perfect. I set the time upon arrival and removed some links from the band and I’m extremely satisfied. I’d recommend this watch. It looks good, functions properly and fits my character.

This was a gift to my husband and he’s extremely happy! He likes the dark design and how matte and shiny details come together on this watch. It holds its time and as long as it has any light source it will charge. The watch was easy to size, just a couple of pins to remove. Our only hang up is, if it’s dark it’s very hard to see the hands against the dark background. Overall it’s beautiful and perfect for special occasions and date night.

Great watch looks great and is very durable

A lot of watches look black in the pictures but turn out being more of a dark gray. This is not one of those watches. I had to out the flash on to get a good pic. In dim light its hard to see this watch at all. A great black watch if this is what you want.

I owned this watch for about 2 days before I decided to return it. I decided to give a review to help people decide on whether to buy it or not. For the pros: The watch is beautiful. It looks amazing, it's flashy, and yet subtle at the same time. It looks great both close up and far away. The numbers are easy to read, and they glow in the dark for night viewing. The color of the watch is very unique, and won't be seen as often compared to the regular stainless colors. The main con: The watch does not have a perpetual calendar. It counts up to 31 days in a month, then starts over. That means any month that has less than 31 days, you have to manually change the date to 1. Is it extremely annoying or hard to do? No, but for a watch that costs this much, you shouldn't have to manually adjust things on a monthly basis. I just couldn't get over this issue, and this is the reason I ended up returning it. If it cost a little less, then I wouldn't mind keeping the watch for special events, but I can't justify this price for something lacking basic features. I'm going to be ordering a different one that does have the perpetual calendar feature. I hope this review helps anyone decide on whether to buy this watch or not. It definitely has the looks, it's just missing some stuff to make it the perfect watch.

Great quality, safely packaged and will continue to purchase

I bought this watch less than 10 months ago and had to send it in for the following repairs which by the way are not covered by their supposed 5 yr guaranty. The crown with the stem fell off less than7 months of occasional use. The clasp that holds the strap together was not clasping as intended and the glass was chipped. I sent the watch in for repair to their service center and I got back a bill in the amount of 135 bucks. I had paid $200 for this watch on Amazon. As an example their clasp cost 52 bucks in parts! Now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with regard to the repair itself. Do I go ahead and invest 135 bucks more in a watch that really has no warranty except in name or do I just buy a new watch from another more reliable manufacturer? As for the watch itself, it kept decent time but if truth be told it is very hard to see or distinguish time unless you really peek hard. It is a good looking time piece with exceptionally poor build quality. CAVEAT EMPTOR ( Buyer Beware)!

I am a collector of black watches, this nighthawk is amazing. The stock picture does not do it justice. I am not sure why someone says they cannot tell time on it, I can see it fine. The hands and face are a different shade of black, the hands look almost a slightly grayish color (visible in stock pic) and also illuminate in green after being in the sun. The eco-drive technology has not let me down yet. I have another black ion plated Citizen watch (AR3015-53E) and the black easily scratches off of it even from just wearing it and writing with the same hand, Citizen has improved that and it is not the case anymore. I have been wearing this watch daily and not one scuff has showed up even after a few dings here and there. I especially like the sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position that points to whether it is noon or midnight, as if it were always night and I couldn't tell! Really nice touch. This watch gets complimented often. Would recommend this watch, especially from Amazon. I pre-ordered and was guaranteed the price and know it's authentic. Saw this watch at a local department store and it was 150$ more. Thanks Amazon!

Ich trage diese Uhr jetzt seit 10 Tagen. Mir gefällt dieses Black on Black on Black Design sehr. Das war auch der ausschlaggebende Punkt für den Kauf. Der Versand über die British Watch Company war absolut klasse. Die Uhr war 7 Tage vor dem voraussichtlichem Lieferdatum bei mir. Mit Eco-Drive habe ich bis jetzt bei anderen Uhren noch keine Erfahrungen sammeln können. Aber trotz der düsteren Wintermonate ist die Uhr noch nicht stehen geblieben ; ) Was mir an der Uhr nicht so gefällt ist: - von dem sogenannten "Superluminova" auf den Zeigern hab ich bis jetzt so gut wie nichts gesehen. Vllt ist es zu dieser Jahreszeit zu dunkel um dies richtig aufzuladen oder mein Hemd ist zu oft über dem Ziffernblatt. Aber wer erwartet Nachts mal die Uhr abzulesen wird enttäuscht. - Das Metallarmband greift manchmal die Armhaare. Aber nicht so schlimm das es wirklich stört. - mich jedenfalls nicht... - Das Armband sieht super aus. Leider habe ich bereits schon nach 10 Tagen den Eindruck das die Beschichtung sehr schnell zerkratzt. Mein Armband hat jedenfalls auf der Unterseite jetzt schon Kratzer. Nichts desto trotz sieht die Uhr so klasse aus das ich über alles gern hinwegsehe. Ich würde sie mir wieder kaufen!

This is an awesome looking watch. It works perfectly well. I actually got one as a gift a few years back but it ended up full of scratches so I bought a new one as the repairs would’ve cost almost the same. So this review is with around 5 years of experience. The watch again looks great I always got complimented on it. The only problems I had were how easy it is to scratch. The glass is crystal and not sapphire as most expensive watches should be. Meaning again it’s v easy to scratch. So me using it for a daily watch and swimming n sports n all literally ruined the looks of it. But it never stopped working or lost time. Even when it was kept in a drawer for 2 years, it didn’t stop working but rather went into power save mode. That means the chronograph second hand stopped working and the regular small second hand was working in 2 seconds intervals. Left under mobile flash for an hour it went back to working perfectly well. The black finish looks great, but also easy to scratch. Some reviews mention the watch being hard to read in the dark, that’s true to an extent. In pitch black darkness it actually illuminates. And the difficulty reading it is the price u pay for such a beautiful watch. It’s not impossible to read but u won’t be reading it in a glance in semi darkness. Some review said this is the watch ninjas wore if they wore watches. That is probably true. All in all, I would definitely recommend this watch but I’d suggest saving it for occasional wearing and don’t push its boundaries with every day use. It looks great and to keep that look safe take care of the watch.
