Size:Soft Hard Floor Casters  |  Color:Sage A million users can't be wrong: Freedom is the gold standard by which other task chairs are judged. Winner of ten design awards to date—including the Design Distinction Award in the prestigious ID Design Review 2000 competition—the Freedom chair by Niels Diffrient has revolutionized the task chair industry. Its weight-sensitive recline, synchronously adjustable armrests, and dynamically positioned headrest set new standards for task chair performance and functionality to keep the sitter exceptionally comfortable while also lowering the risk of long-term injury.

Best office chair ever
I've been using this chair for weeks and I love it.Previously I purchased Herman Miller Embody and that has a fantastic lumbar support but its seat didn't work well with me. And I always spent too much time adjusting it for a better feeling but never succeeded. On the other hand, freedom really give me what I want, without any pain. I just sit and recline to reach the comfortable position, and work without thinking about it. Though the lumbar support of freedom isn't as good as embody, it's ok for people who don't have lumbar pain. And its supportive seat cushion and headrest keep your legs and neck away from soreness even you sit long.I have to say that this chair is much better than I expected. I hope it indeed ends my journey of seeking for a working office chair and brings me comfort in the next several years as it did in these first weeks.

Comfortable
Good chair easy to adjust and comfortable. A little too expensive but one of the beat chairs I have used

Never buy this chair
The arms break off every year because they're just cheap plastic, and it costs you $60/ea. to replace them. The quality is about 1/100th of something made by Herman Miller at twice the price. Judging by other reviews, Humanscale has known about this problem for at least 10 years possibly more and hasn't bothered to re-engineer the arm part. Another garbage product from garbage people.

Great chair but replacement parts are expensive (7 year owner)
I purchased my Freedom Chair with headrest in 2013. I work from home and sit in my chair 10+ hours each day. I love the chair, but am starting to think I need to look elsewhere. Things I like - The chair is really comfortable and adjustable. The head rest is really supportive. I like how it reclines. Things that I don't like - The arms are pretty cheaply made and they break in half, I have gone through three of them (60-70 each). I replaced the arm pads a couple years ago (60 for the pair) because the synthetic leather cracked. The fabric on the seat is glued to the gel cushion which makes the fabric bunch up near the front edge of the seat. My seat has a crack under my right leg and I need a replacement (the gel seat only, the seat pan is in good shape). I called Humanscale for a replacement as no one sells the seat. They said they would sell one to me for $285. I would rather spend the $285 than buy a new chair, but they don't allow you to buy directly from their website. They want me to send my credit card info via email which is not very secure. I refuse to pay by email, so I may be looking at a new chair.
