Jungle Dart thing
Very sharp stabbing thing looks durable. I am going to make a Kydex sheath for it

great letter opener
I received the Cold Steel Jungle Dart today, a day earlier than the estimated delivery date. It came well packaged, with small air cushions for padding. The product itself is great. Despite being made of plastic, it is not a feather weight knife, though this is due to the great feeling handle. Also, having tried it on a few cardboard boxes that it came with, the Jungle Dart does what it was made to do, and that is penetrate. It's tip holds up well, except for the very end of the tip, less than a millimeter, came of. Other than that minuscule problem, it is a great knife, and works great as a package/letter opener.

Jungle Dart
I bought this out of more curiosity then any specific need, but for the price it seemed like a fun item. It is made of grivory (plastic reinforced with fiberglass) with a handle that has kraton (basically feels like rubber). It is exceptionally light weight, less then an ounce, however despite the weight it feels well made. The design seems well thought out. I really can't think of a use for this except for stabbing something. The point is very sharp but the edges aren't blade sharp (not a butter knife but not far off). But if you use this as self protection I would fully expect that the blade portion would easily penetrate the length of the blade (a bit over 3 in). Despite other reviews, I cannot fathom using this as a throwing knife, and I don't think it would be useful as a box opener or such. I guess you could use it as a letter opener but the tip is triangular and thick and it doesn't seem designed for that (looks like it was designed to stab). The only issues that I see are that the rubber like handle is a bit short (ie the rubber should cover a bit more of the dart for a better grip). I think you are supposed to put your thumb against the butt end of it however even using it like that the rubber grip is too short. The ring that comes with it (fits in the end of the dart) may be also used in the grip (wrap around thumb) but I just think it gets in the way and you would not want to hang it from a belt (it would just stab you when you sit down). Furthermore, there is no sheath and this thing is a bear to carry around without a sheath (basically it will stab through anything you carry it in).If you could find a way to carry this without stabbing yourself it would be a great item to take camping (weights almost nothing but could be used for protection...obviously not big game but maybe a vicious racoon or such). Or put it in your car for personal protection (or you can hide it in your garage etc).for <10 bucks its a cool item.

GREAT single use item for that sketchy bar / club that wands people but doesn't have security
This thing is GREAT! In terms of what this is *really* for, and what you are paying - just shut up and buy it! The grip is great, and it's sharp and actually very scary. Between one of these and pepper spray (assuming that gets past the security "experts" that wouldn't give af if you were assaulted), you are pretty much good to go against anyone. Of course it's basically a nylon shiv.... but most people aren't very interested in fighting after they get stabbed. I found a sick locking kydex sheath for it online. This thing has better ergonomics than a lot of expensive knives I own! The grip feels SO solid, it has a nice rough thumb groove - and I think you could probably even get quite a few blows in before it broke. I actually just went ahead and got an extra for storage!

Worst Throwing Weapon I have ever used
This Cold Steel Jungle Dart is literally the worst throwing weapon I have ever used and I am a very experienced thrower. First you must remove the metal ring for the thing to have any balance at all, but because of the shape of the blade and how ridiculously light it is throwing it is out of the question... even though its a dart..But my biggest problem was I guess i didn't really know what grivory was. Turns out its just regular cheap old plastic. Cheap enough that the sharp tip that everyone is talking about was already bent when i got my dart..Darts are also meant to be thrown in a "spear" or sliding style where the blade makes no rotations.. The horrible 1 inch handle is coated in extremely grippy rubber so sliding is out of the question.I have purchased several throwing weapons and machetes from cold steel and for the most part i was happy about what I was getting. Their products are inexpensive and for the most part they use quality steel, but not only is this jungle dart the worst product I have gotten from cold steel it is the worst weapon I have ever purchased. Due to the light weight nature of the blade I would be more comfortable using a standard aluminum pen in a combat situation than this piece of junk. O and in terms of throwing, a kitchen knife will work much better, and honestly not even joking, a butter knife will work much better, simply because of weight.

The Plastic Deceiver
Well, the product got here on time, (the earliest date at that!) and i opened it to find the tip broken off. I didn't mind too much, as i would never use it for violence, but if that's your plan, forget it. This "knife" is really just hard plastic. Unlike other reviewers, i knew it was plastic the day after i ordered it, so i wasn't too mad when i got it. The ring on the end of it sucks, and is hard to pull off. It's also not viable for throwing; it's back is not symmetrical with the front, and it's, again, plastic. I gave it a three star because at the end of the day, it is well made for plastic, and the design is cool as hell. I'd prefer a metal one, (even 440 steal!)but this will do.
