Awesome project for grandpa and grandson - and it works great!
My grandson who is 6 years old and I were able to put this kit together and have it running in a short afternoon. The parts are well designed and the instructions are good enough that we had little trouble understanding them. I had my grandson put most of the pieces together and tighten the screws. He is so proud of his little engine!

Wonderful one afternoon project!
This engine is a fun kit and when assembled with care works perfectly. Go slowly and be aware the very small parts can easily slip away.

Great fun for the cost.
Fun to put together and run. If you have never assembled anything mechanical before, this could be quite challenging. Some very small parts to install which require a steady hand. nimble fingers, and good eyesight or a magnifier. Runs great but you need to keep it very clean or it will not run well after a while. I had to take some items apart and clean them after only a few runs but for those of us who enjoy gadgets, that's part of the fun. Overall I would say its a great item for the money. Not for young children without supervision as it involves an open flame and some parts get very hot when running.

quick, nice running build
Assembled easily in the promised 30 minutes. Runs nicely on IPA for about 10 minutes per filling. Kit was missing the two 5x3mm set screws, but had extra 3x3mm ones that worked fine as replacements. Directions were clearly translated into English, but with the pictures provide sufficient information to complete the build without issues. As promised, several parts are quite small.

Missing parts Will not run
4 screws are missing. I have met with nothing but dead ends trying to solve this problem. I can't even contact the seller. Michael I found the screws and am quite embarrassed. They are very tiny. Michael I have assembled and it will not run. Checked assembly and will not run. Used denatured alcohol, will not run. Very disappointing. Michael Finally made it run...slowly. I believe my 7000 ft. altitude has something to do with the problem. Thin air. Michael Altitude had nothing to do with the problem. I cleaned the power piston and cylinder with alcohol. Black residue came out. It runs like crazy now. Michael

Somewhat picky but quite fun
The kit was a cakewalk (I dont actually know what that means) to assemble. Though I have had to take it apart and put it back together a few times it is very easy to do so. Take time with it and pay close attention to the pieces and remove any burrs, the tiny keepers are super easy to lose so put it together on top of a big table or something of the like. Make sure you grab some tweezers to make your job easier. Though at first it ran on low grade rubbing alcohol (lazily) you will for sure want to find the strongest stuff you can 99% works great. The issue is with the wick placement, in theory it's where it should be but if there is a draft or its winter on the palouse then you can expect issues. With high grade alcohol I had no trouble when the room temp was 62, with low grade i could feel it build compression but it would not run. All in all this is a neat kit and it taught me more than reading forums ever did, take it easy and have fun learning, be patient and you will enjoy it.
