Overall Review of this game.
This game is a excellent choice for those people who enjoy and have the patience to level up and unlock things Slowly. My thought is that this game is great. I love Story line and it has great animation. if you are wondering if you should buy this game i recommend you do. But this game isn't a RPG game like Skyrim. It has a third person view (which is fine with me and is normal) and you can set the language they speak to Japanese or English. The sub text is always English but for those who are buying this and only know how to read japanese (of course i think there is a japanese version of this game..) can set it to japanese but the sub title will not change. The game is a story line where you pick up more comrades to defeat monsters. To be honest im not sure if this is a game a 25 year old person would enjoy.. The graphics are nice no bugs for me. I have had no freezes are memory deletion. Overall This Game is Excellent. (for me) And if you are thinking of buying this its totally worth it.

Very dissapointing
As anyone who's read my stuff before knows, I love NIS. Last year they released a game called Trinity Univers which I loved, despite a really poor implemented item crafting system. It had great characters, a cute story, beautiful visuals, and a combat style I haven't seen since the Legaia series. It was great fun and a strong showing of how a classic, turn-based, JRPG could be done on current generation console. When I saw Neptunia, hearing that it was the spiritual sequel, and had that same cute and colorful style, similar combat, and was being made by the same people, I jumped on it. Oh how wrong I was. This game isn't done. That's the only explanation I can think of considering its lineage. It shares a lot of traits with Trinity Universe, but a lot of what made TU good is missing. The combat is greatly stripped down yet also somehow made harder to use. It uses a similar idea, but instead of a sequence of normal attacks triggering a special attack, you have to customize every single possible combination of 4 button presses, assign an attack to every single button of every single combination, and also make sure that you end on a certain type of attack to either string to a combo or switch members. While it sounds pretty interesting, it is executed so poorly and extraordinarily cumbersome and time consuming. On top of that, the fights are horrendously slow and dull. Everyone's attacks seem so slow and labored, it makes each swing take forever. The combat is the worst of it, but there's other problems. The game makes fun of JRPG tropes, which is actually quite amusing during cut scenes, but the way it does it is do bad. This game NEEDED a world to make these jokes work, not just still images. Every time you interact with an NPC, they appear as a small, black silhouette. All the dungeons are the same. I believe there was a grand total of 3 "types" of dungeon that I saw, though I didn't get very far. A cave, a warehouse, and a forest. Occasionally they changed color, or had fog, but that was it. Lump that with in the slow and repetitive combat and they've managed to make a dungeon crawler where you dread dungeon crawling.Another problem is the healing - there isn't any. You'll find a number of multi-colored potions in treasure chests or after battles. This potions, in various combinations, are used in your healing/recovery skills. Here's the problem, you can't use them at will. You use skill points that you are allotted to set priories for your healing skills to trigger automatically when you take damage with certain health %s or guard under a certain health %, and so on. This means that you can easily end up in a position where you need to heal cause the next hit will kill you, but you can only heal when you get hit, thus putting you in a death cycle. I imagine later on this because less problematic later on when you have more points and can max out most of the "conditions," but early on you'll have to flee from the dungeons because your party members are too weak to continue on and can't heal even though you're swimming in green potions. The "Game" is bad, really, really bad. The characters are cut and funny and the setting would be unique if it had been fleshed out at all. I only suggest this to people who are in it purely for the cute, comedic story line and don't mind slogging through boring dungeons and bad combat to get there.I guess in other words, if you liked Final Fantasy 13 and want something a bit more humorous, get this game. NIS devotees may also be interested in it if they can still get the box set just for collectors sake. But certainly don't buy it if you're looking for a good JRPG.

Unique
Not many games point out at every turn you are in a game, this one does and tries to be very sarcastic about it. All in all a fun game if you can stand the repeated dungeon crawl quests. It would cost you another 200 bucks or better to get all of the DLC, so don't worry about running out of content any time soon. Worth playing, don't know if I can run through it again.

Do yourself a favor and don't buy this.
I purchased this game after watching many trailers and game play footage and decided hey I'm a huge fan of JRPG's and anime so this should be a great buy for me, a friend of mine even kept telling me to buy it so I did. Big Mistake. The whole story is a complete joke, I don't mind spoiling it cuz its really stupid, its the game industry wars. 4 systems are in this we have the Playstation the xbox the Wii and the sega neptune a system that was dropped when sega died or was the dreamcasts original name i'm not sure and don't really care. So thats it take that and slap together a poorly done fantasy story to that and you get this game, sure it has some good jokes, but with such a horribly premise whats the point, I could make a game were Ghaundi was a power ranger and that would far more entertaining than this crap. Now if that was all that was wrong with this game I would end here, guess what, its not. Gameplay in this game is terrible, controls are really slow and the combos are super weak, and the worst part is YOU CAN"T HEAL. Well actually you have abilities that will proc at certain percentages but only if actions are taken, you are target of actions or if the game is bored, so if a character dies you are screwed til one of these 3 scenarios are fulfilled (which surprises me the game isn't bored enough with itself to proc heal more often). So is that all that can be said about this, NO. This game may have that nice anime art style I like but the voices are horrid, now I've defended english voice dubs in the past cuz most anime or game fans hate stuff that isn't jap dubbed and eng subs, now i can give my opinion about these ppl but lets not digress, the voices in this game are so horrid I wonder if it was done intentionally, as if the voice over artists read the script and said to hell with this, It gets painful at times. So certainly there can't be anything else wrong with this right, wrong. Graphics in this game are such low grade I think the Ps2 can make it look better, seriously I'm sure i can find some PS1 games that look better than this, and have far more goin on, its just so sad that this game is on a system that can do so much more and they don't utilize it, I'm not one to focus on graphics in a game but when the graphics hinder a game such as Persona3Portable then I gotta bring it up as a negative and this definitely qualifies. Ok you've covered all its faults now right? GUESS AGAIN!!!! The box is by far the least accessable box I have ever dealt with, yes I'm serious I had to use a paper clip to pop out the tab and open the side to get the damn game out, took me like 10 mins to finally figure this out, it should of been the first warning of how bad this game was, its not to be played just propped up so ppl can admire the fantastic artwork, which is the only plus side to this game. All in all if some one offers you 70 dollars to play this game from start to finish, refuse its not worth it.
