Volkman Featherglow Gourmet Eggfood 1 lb

This brand of egg food has been enjoyed by our birds, well above other brands. It's been so easy to purchase with other Amazon items before a lapse in availability on this site. Therefore, I turned to another site, BirdSeed.com, where the product is sold in 2# packages at a great price. I was glad to see it showing up again here, and got ready to add a ONE POUND bag, unaware it's $10. over what I paid through Amazon over a year ago. So.. I again have had to purchase it at BirdSeed.com, where a 2# bag is sold for a fraction of the price here.What's up, Amazon? I'm seeing this a lot more. Amazon used to offer very competitive prices, but it'sreally spotty as of late. Product gets 5 stars (I left it that way), but the new Amazon pricing through their vendor now gets a minus on stars.

My parakeets are all pushing to get at it when I refill their bowl, so apparently they think it tastes great. They will eat Higgins egg food, but but not with the enthusiasm they have for Volkman’s. It’s more expensive than Quicko and Higgins, but healthy birds and chicks are well worth it. Volkman is a well regarded supplier of foods for birds, so I feel confident about their product.

My seramas go insane for this eggfood! Our two little girls (about 14 ounces each) live indoors in a chicken coop in our basement. We have an avian broad spectrum light shining into their coop, but wanted to ensure they have excellent nutrition as well. When their daily play time is over (about 3 hours free roaming the house in their tiny chicken diapers), I refill their food and water for the day in their coop, and sprinkle about a half tablespoon of this eggfood on top of their dish of layer crumbles. They race each other over to their food dish and each try to scoop all of the eggfood over to their side of the dish so they can hoard and eat it all! Occasionally I scatter a small handful through their coop bedding for them to scratch and peck for. The other product I do this with is Fluker's juvenile bearded dragon pellet and dried mealworm mixture in a jar. They love their 'wormies and nuggets,' but they love their eggfood even more!!

I love the Volkman brand. We use the Super Finch Food with fresh food and granules. Irregardless of what I do, my finches lay eggs often. I have one in particular, Vanilla, (pictured above) that suffers when laying eggs. I often have to massage her to help her pass them. We decided she needs more calcium. Calcium can be a dangerous supplement to give as it's hard to judge how much a 12 gram bird needs. I chose to supplement with Volkman Seed Featherglow Gourmet Eggfood to increase finches intake of minerals. The moment I put a pinch into their seed dishes, they immediately went to the food and gobbled it up. Within a few weeks we noticed that Vanilla isn't having such a hard time passing her eggs. This food may end up saving her life! Volkman's really is the best and OIG Brands got the package to us right on time!!! Okay, so I admit that I gave it 5 stars for "flavor". How would I know? Well, I don't, but my conures can't get enough of this, so it must be good! Their feathers are shiny, they're healthy, happy little beasts, and I feel better knowing this is part of their diet. So what if they're "spoiled"? Just wish this was so expensive! It's a decent-sized bag, and need only a couple tbsp per bird daily, but seems to go quickly. Maybe a bag per month, and it adds up! So, I've started adding it to pellet diet or veg/fruit mash, and they love it even more!

Fresh and provides all the nutrients my birds need. Fast shipping as well.

Wow! I did not realize how much birds need this type of food. It is a nice healthy treat for our cockatiel and canary. They love it and are much more perky since we've been giving it to them along with their other food. I've seen reviews about other similar food that were not so good. This does not smell bad at all. So glad we purchased.
