It's an OK ax. But the Haft really needs to be drifted rather then capped. My wife bought this through my account for father's day. You will definitely want to put your own edge on it. It IS sharp. But it feels as though it was ground on and not sharpened or cleaned up after the grinder.To be clear, I don't believe this ax was hand forged. It looks more like it was ground to an edge from bar stock and welded to the cap on the handle. Tgat being said, if it was welded, it was a smashing weld job. 2 stars for the fact that it looks good hanging on the wall. Even the cheapest Cold Steel axes are better.

Added to Medieval weapons collection. Solid wood handle, well made blade is very sharp. Leather blade cover could be tweaked a bit as sharp corners of blade edge can still cause injury when in place.Otherwise - quite happy with this hand-axe purchase.

I really like the fact that this axe came sharp, it is a good little axe looks good on the wall and Is able to be used as a camp axe also did well cutting small to medium trees. It is better suited in my opinion as a self defense/ war axe witch was my purpose for the axe

Beautifully made as a decorative piece but the handle seems a bit weak for throwing.

I love the sh as pe and sharpness. I didn't like the weight or lack thereof. There is no back to it so no pounding to split wood.

Nice display piece but not built for much use. Axe is nice, light weight, and sharp but cannot take much abuse. Decide if you want something functional or pretty before spending the money.
