I like this remote. When my qwerty keyboard remote that came with the Samsung Smart tv I bought a couple of years ago, the batteries oxidized inside the remote from lack of use which ruined the remote. I found this universal remote at Amazon, read most of the reviews and purchased it. I am not disappointed. It is nice looking and does everything the original remote did and it works right out of the box. I must admit, I have not used it much. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. No instructions included and price is escalating. I bought it at $29, others bought it even cheaper and it is now up $39 in a very short time. It beats buying a replacement remote for $160 which it what it would cost to replace the original remote.

This remote has far more functionality then the touch remote shipped with my Samsung 60" 8500 series plasma TV. It has a lighted keyboard. The only issue I have is that the keys are flat (smooth) so you must look at the remote to actually know which key to press as you cannot do it by feel as in some other remotes. Unless there is a light in the room, you cant see the keys either and the backlight only goes on when you press a specific key. It is however, a good remote. But beware...others have said this remote works with their Samsung Blu-ray players. This remote does NOT work with my 2013 model Samsung Blu-ray player.

After 9 months, the original "touch pad" remote that came with our Samsung 3D Smart TV (UN50F6400AF) was not working well. The touch pad was loose and would not respond very well. To be honest, we were not sad. We've never liked the lack of buttons on that one. While I did like being able to write on the pad to jump to a channel, it was such a nuisance to get to the A-D buttons, for example. Plus, the remote was small and was always getting lost in the TV room.This remote works well on our TV. I'm not sure why one reviewer said it is "not for U.S. TVs". Ours is and it's fine.The main advantage over the original remote is that it is NOT Bluetooth (could be a disadvantage to some). Why is this nice? Well, the remote is so much quicker at making the TV respond. This is especially true with the "Guide". It still works well without having to have it directly pointed to the TV. I'm keeping the original Bluetooth around for times when I'm in another room and may need to mute the TV, or when I'm upstairs and too far away from it.The remote doesn't have "real" buttons, but there are raised lines between sets. The "Power", "5" dot, volume, and channel buttons are also raised. The light is nice and can be turned off to save batteries (and easily turned back on if needed). The "Internet" button acts as the original remote's "Smart Hub".We had also purchased the Samsung keyboard right after the TV and it's a joke, so we rarely use it. It doesn't work with most apps like YouTube and to use the browser with it on the TV is painfully slow. So now we have a remote that works well, is large enough to not be lost, and saves us many steps in doing what we want because we don't have to go through the on-screen menu.The only downside is that it's not really ergonomic. However, since I have arthritis and no longer have to "swipe" to navigate, but can click the navigation buttons, the remote makes up for that.

"Universal" generally means a remote that also controls devices from other manufacturers. So far as I can tell, this one is Samsung-only -- the product doesn't include codes for other manufacturers in print or on the web. The Source button only controls which input the TV uses. Some true universal remotes cost less. However, it's easier to use than the touch-pad remotes that come with recent Samsung TVs. Amazon should remove "universal" from the description, e.g., "Samsung 3D TV Remote Control."In case the image isn't clear, the top right button, which on a universal remote might have been power on/off for another device, instead controls the handy backlight.It's not universal. It's Samsung-only.

I purchased this as a replacement to my original remote after the kids destroyed it and the only reason I gave it three stars instead of five is the fact that Samsung updated their remote and it wasn't the exact same key layout. The old one had a "yahoo" button and a "-" under the "7" key that are no longer there. Frustrating a bit because I used the Yahoo button to get to my Amazon Instant Video app and the "-" is needed for my Skype app that I'm no longer able to use because I can't log in.

We've been using this remote now for five months now to replace the touch pad remote that came with our Samsung UN60F7100 . There was no set up involved. It just worked, perfectly, out of the box.The remote that came with the TV was a pain to use, but this one does everything we need it to do, only better than the other. It may even do things we haven't tried yet (voice commands? I don't know). But the touch pad on the other is no match for the simple arrows on this remote. Getting to the smart menu is no problem with a button dedicated to the task, and once there, navigating through the apps with the arrows is much more straightforward than "swiping" .I also love having all the functions explicitly labeled instead of trying to guess what arcane combination of swipes was going to get the original remote to the most basic tasks.I suppose I could have lived with the factory original remote if I had to, but if like me you came looking not only because it is a pain to use but because the touch pad remote burns through batteries every three weeks, then you be happy to know that I haven't had to change the batteries in this since we got it (5 months now)..

Excellent service by Amazon, delivered within the committed period. My 7 Year kid opened the pack and started using the remote. It was so easy to use. My TV is Samsung smart LED TV UA50F6800. Great product and great service by Amazon. Keep it up.

Does the job as described. Appears to be more convenient than the small touch remote that cae with my 64P8500 TV. Price, however, is too high, and one might get it cheaper at the local electronics market where replacement remotes are sold.

Does the job. Traditional remote instead of the terrible touch pad remote which was bundles with the tv. Its sleek and chrome finish makes it look upscale.
