Good for Homeschoolers
First, let me say I purchased these for homeschooling my kindergartener. I bought 2 boxes of the 214 Educational Insights Multicolored AlphaMagnets and MathMagnets at the same time and both boxes contained the same number of letters and numbers. I bought 2 boxes since some of the letters only have a qty of 2 (such as the letter "y") and I was wanting to create at least 4 or more words depending on which blends we are working on. These will work perfect for phonics time and for the price, its a good buy. The uppercase letters and tall lowercase letters measure close to 1 1/2 in., the short lowercase letters measure 1 inch. The letters/numbers are hard plastic with small magnetics attached to the back. The magnets seem to hold well on the magnet board by themselves. If you put a piece of loose leaf paper on the board for the magnet to hold the magnet and the paper slide down the board. The magnet is not strong enough to hold anything. They work fine just as a magnet but don't plan to use them to hold anything to the fridge or magnetic board. The back of the magnets have an open back with one or two small magnets attached to the letter/number. These letters/numbers come in a plastic container that is good storage and the lid will stay on nicely. I did, however, buy a container at Joann's that has separate compartments for each letter, so I don't have to keep searching for the letter I need. These are small letters and numbers plus the magnets are tiny which could be a choking hazard if you have a toddler or preschooler who put things in their mouth. How Many of Each Letter and Numbers? 4 qty. of each for Numbers (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) and Math symbols (+, -, =) This does not contain multiplication or division symbols in this set. All Uppercase Letters: 2 of each Letter (this includes vowels and consonants). Number of Lowercase Letters are as follows: a = 6 b = 5 c = 4 d = 4 (you can also use the "p" if needing more "d's") e = 6 f = 4 g = 4 h = 4 i = 6 j = 2 k = 4 l = 5 m = 5 n = 4 (you can also use the "u" if needing more "n's") o = 6 p = 4 (you can also use this as a "d" if you needed more) q = 2 ("q" has a little tail at the bottom of the stick part of the letter) r = 5 s = 5 t = 5 w = 2 u = 6 (you can also use "n" if you need more "u") v = 2 x = 2 y = 2 z = 2 ? = 4 (there is no "!" but you can use the lowercase "i" as a question mark and there are no "periods" in this set) The only cons I have on this is that I wish all the lowercase letters had a minimum qty of 4 and I wish they were at least 2 inches tall. But its not too much of a big deal to me and I am happy with the purchase. I would recommend these to anyone homeschooling. I have included pictures of both box sets I purchased. You can see that both boxes came with the same number of letters. I also included pictures of the back of the magnets.

I love these magnets!
I bought these magnets because I thought they looked very high quality. I liked the container that fits the magnets inside. They were inexpensive at a good price. The magnets are sturdy and worked well on my fridge, dishwasher, magnetic boards, and any other magnetic surface. I got everything that came in the set. I also took some photos to showcase these magnets as well. Pieces Included (214 Piece): 2 of each uppercase letters 5 of each lowercase vowel 6 of each b, l, m, r, s, and t 3 of each c, d, f, g, h, j, k, n, p, q, v, w, x, y, and z 4 of each number 4 of each +, -, =, and ? Each magnet measures from 1” to 1.5” in diameter. Your set might vary when you purchase these magnets. They worked well for me and I would definitely purchase these again. I would also recommend purchasing these magnets if you want to use them for your child or classroom. Thanks for reading this review!

Awesome educational tool!
I bought these for my 4yo son to use on an oil drip pan mounted to the wall in his 'car/route 66' theme bedroom. He LOVES them. They have a really nice feel to them, definitely a nice sturdy plastic as opposed to less expensive ones you could pick up at the dollar store, etc. The magnets are not so strong that they would be hard for him to remove and separate from the board, but not so weak that they won't stay in place or fall off. I had originally found a set of just uppercase (same brand) for around ten bucks, then found this set which included both the lower case and numbers. Unlike most letter sets, the letters are appropriately sized to work together as a child would see them in typeface on a page in a book.

a great, big set
This set is just right. There's enough letters, numbers and symbols for our needs. The plastic is a nice matte and the magnets aren't too strong or too weak. For some reason the numbers are impossible for me to find when I want them. Consider doing yourself a favor and sorting the sets into baggies, first thing. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is the storage tub is almost mommy proof as well as child proof. I'd only ding half a star for that if it would let me.

Can't beat the value!
These magnets are great. The container is difficult to open, which is good to prevent the bucket and its contents from spilling, or too small a child accessing the magnets (as choking hazards) but it require some real finger strength. Other than that, can't beat the value for the amount and quality of the magnets you receive. I loves that it includes numbers and basic equation symbols. Also, there are multiples of the vowels and more popular letters.

LETTERS & Number Magnets (214) - Great for Kids!!
I used to have some numbers and letters like this that I could put on the fridge to make words when I was little. I remembered that I always liked playing with them. So I just had to get some for the little ones at my house as well. So far they have enjoyed playing with them, and they've held up nicely. They work awesome with a magnet board as well!!! I have now purchased 3 different sets of these and have been happy with all of them. I keep needing to order more sets so my child can spell more words! :-)

Magnets not good enough for 5 stars
I wish I could give these 5 stars... the tub is sturdy, quantity of letters for the price is great, the multiple lowercase letters is a find, and most of all (as a teacher) I love that the formation of the letters is correct. Every other set I looked at on Amazon had just one of each letter, or one letter in the lineup with a funky formation. These are thinner than other sets, but still plenty sturdy enough to use. However, as other reviewers have said, the magnet strength is just lacking. The fact that the label on the tub says "Super stick magnets: more magnets and stronger magnets means no more droopy letters" is just pure irony. The one flaw of these letters is that the magnets are NOT strong, NOT plentiful and the letters DO droop. Lowercase letters like "a" have one tiny magnet on the side and easily turn sideways if you breathe on them. Larger letters with two magnets still won't stick over one thin piece of paper. I am contemplating returning them and disappointed in Educational Insights. This could have been an amazing product if they cared to put quality magnets in!

Great price. Cool and colorful
Great price. Cool and colorful. Bought for my two year old...even though the package clearly states these aren't intended for children under three...but if your little one (like mine) doesn't have a thing for putting random stuff in their mouths, than these are a good choice. I took out all the smaller pieces just to be safe (lower case letters and math symbols), but still recommend adult supervision at all times as the pieces are still, obviously, a choking hazard. At this age some pieces are a little tricky for him to put on the magnetic board. Magnetism is great. They stay on the board great but are easily removed.
