Fantastic at reducing heat in homes and cutting down glare
I did my whole home with Gila heat reduction film and find it was easy to do and has greatly cut down on the heat factor inside my home as well as reduced glare of sun on furniture and inside house. I live in Fl and found the heat was intense when sun hit my windows especially during high summer heat, so decided to try this film. It works beautifully and has definitely lowered my AC costs as it keeps my home cooler all year long. I called company and asked rep if it made sense to put on slider windows that did not receive direct sunlight and she reminded me that it was to reduce heat from entering home, not just sunlight. Heat enters your home thru any windows whether they face direct sun or not. I was able to do most windows by myself but having a helper definitely makes things go faster. I definitely needed a helper when putting film on large sliders as the film has a tendency to stick together and you need some help to keep ends from sticking to each other when carrying 6' long pieces from cutting surface to window. Easy to apply but make sure to add an extra 2" to length and width so you end up having about 1" extra on each side to maneuver film around before cutting edges in place. Make sure you have a good squeegee as an old one won't work to squeeze out all the trapped air bubbles.Follow directions to apply 2 pieces of scotch tape, back to back,to one corner to lift and separate film from its liner. Change razor blade often and press deeply so your razor cuts thru film when doing edges. Never pull a tear along edges if the razor cut isn't there as it may easily tear unevenly. I found it easiest to use a straight razor blade and ruler edge to do my edge cutting in place. Review the Gila website instructions carefully to make sure you understand how to do it and some additional videos on You Tube can help. I made my own wetting solution by following the recipe given on Gila website and so far it has stood up beautifully for over 2 years now with no loose edges. Really important to make sure you don't allow film to touch itself when moving it from cutting surface to window, as once it sticks to itself you will never be able to remove the wrinkles it produces when you unstick it from itself. You can patch it when you find places where you cut it wrong, but the patches do show up. I have been able to attach extra length when one piece turned out to be too short, but you will always see the seam if you look closely. The "Titanium" model does have a mirror reflection inside house at night under certain lighting conditions but is higher heat reduction. "Platinum"model not quite as high heat reduction, but less mirror reflection inside at night. No mirror reflection outside house with either model at any time day or night. Windows outside look slightly darker but not noticeably and actually give privacy during day, but not at night. Will definitely make your room slightly darker all day, but that's because it's cutting out the sun glare and direct sun shining in all day. It's definitely worth a slightly darker inside to benefit from a cooler inside! You can see outside normally all day/night. I'm so happy with the results that I just did my whole 2nd home too!

When the installation works the result is amazing. It really blocks the heat and the hard ...
When the installation works the result is amazing. It really blocks the heat and the hard sun light. There is a long learning curve for the installation. Any bubbles or wrinkles will show and it looks terrible. I have installed it in a bunch of windows in my house and the first ones look really bad but the last 2 windows looks great. So here are a few suggestions based on what I have learned:First, before you install the film the whole window has to be really, really clean. Not just the glass but the whole window, The reason for this is that once you spray the soap to install the film even a really small amount of dirt around the window will move by magic to the glass and the film won't stick to the glass and create bubbles.I have used different soaps including the one they sell for this purpose. None worked for me. The only thing that has worked for me is a few drops (8 of 10) of Baby Shampoo into a spray bottle with water and shake it (no other shampoo, it has to be Baby Shampoo, I guess because it does not have many additives that stay behind).I know that in the videos (and instructions) people stick it to the glass and then cut it, that has not worked for me, once it is in the glass the cutting of the edge does not come out even and it looks terrible. So I created a pattern (with an extra clear glass I had using 2 of the sides to guide the cut and the other 2 sides I marked it with a marker with the dimensions I needed) and I cut it before placing it in the glass.I stick 2 small pieces of painters tape (a weak tape) facing each other (on the sticky side) in one corner of the piece of film (that I already have with the correct dimension leaving 1/8 clearance to the edge of the glass in each side, less than 1/8 has not worked for me since it does not stick to the edges when it is too close) and pull the tapes apart. That gets the backing of the film to separate (just in the corner). Then, here is the most important part, spray at this point plenty of the soap on both (front and back) sides of the film and on the glass. I then remove the backing half way and spray some more soap and that side of the film, then remove it completely. At this point it is very important to stay calm, the film will try to stick to everything and to itself and the only thing that prevent it to really sticking is the soap on it but it feels that it will. You have a few seconds at this point before it dries just a bit and it is over (it will stick to itself, walls, cabinets, etc., and it will wrinkle and become unmanageable. It is better to discard the piece if that happens since the wrinkles won't go away). So, I hold it flat in front of the glass and place it on it. All the soap on it (and on the glass) allows you to move it completely (just for a few seconds) so there is the same amount of space to each edge. Then, with a flat peace of plastic covered with a rag (so the rag will absorb the water on the edges otherwise it won't stick) you start making it flat and removing the soapy water. You have to do this evenly (with increasing pressure but not too much), fast but without panic and making sure that the rag is removing the water from the edges.Well, that is the way I have end up doing it and the result is amazing without wrinkles or bubbles.Good luck and remember, stay calm, clean well the whole window before and use plenty of soap everywhere during installation.

This stuff really works!
This stuff really works! Not sure about 70% reduction, but it’s a noticeable reduction. It is definitely a two person job though! And you need a big flat surface. We used the kitchen floor. And you need to buy a rubber squeegee as per the videos on YouTube

Great product but tricky to install
This is a great product which cuts down on the sun intensity- I’ve installed it on my patio doors as I get the afternoon and late evening sun which is quite intense in summer. It also appears to provide some measure of heat control as well. It is tricky to install by one person alone (which I did) when you have a larger surface to cover but I have used similar products previously so I knew what to expect.Adhesion has been great as well-shows no signs of peeling off but you have to ensure your windows are clean.

Efficient at cooling your home
I live in a poorly insulated apartment that's facing south west. On the worst summer days it can get up to 40+ degrees inside. I can only use portable ACs due to the building code, and those really struggle to cool to a reasonable temperature on their own. This window film works about as well as the AC does on its own, which is amazing, because the AC is crazy expensive to buy and use in comparison. Due to the film I can avoid turning on the AC on many more days than before, and on the really bad days, it helps the AC to cool to a more reasonable temperature. Great value! Only thing I'll say is that it can be a bit finicky to install, but that's the case with most hardware installations, and there's a great YouTube video by the company that explains everything. I followed the guide and had no issues with it other than it taking about an hour to go through all the steps thoroughly, especially bubble removal took a while.
