blissful (with lots of interesting information!)
I love this magazine. I don't like to travel at all (go figure), but I love reading about traveling, and learning interesting facts about different locations. This magazine definitely caters to the "luxurious" end of travel- lots of reviews and information about villas, private island resorts, etc. But there's also quite a bit about a lot of off-the-beaten-path places, and information about actually making the move to an island, and information about local traditions, customs, etc. It's a magazine that's equal part dreamy-fantasy, interesting information, and actual useful tips for vacation planning.

BEST magazine for those that only take one vacation per year.
Illustrates great vacation and/or retirement places that are not yet tourist attractions. Third year with this magazine and it does not get old. Provides lots of info regarding each island "escape" including local foods and haunts. If you dream of beaches and diverse locales for vacation - you need this magazine. Even if you take only one vacation per year, but it has to be a GOOD one, this does all the research for you to find that perfect unique place to go to rest and play.

Islands
I have every issue including the first three before they almost stopped printing. This has always been and continues to be one of the most inclusive of all travel magazines about islands. Including many we don't ordinarily think of as islands. They have visited several more than once and updatedor shown them from different experiences. Some have been very well known and a few islands most of us may never have heard of. Some islands are easily accessible and some very difficult to arrive at. What was so interesting to me was in the first three issues that took us to a private island and several issues that followed a family who was sailing from island to island. Highly recommended.

Beautiful pictures and some wonderful feature stories
I originally got a subscription to Islands on a whim as I hibernated through a cold Chicago winter. I was pleasantly surprised by the stunning depictions of different islands as well as the diversity of articles and islands they chose to feature. Some articles talked about local food, others discussed culture etc. One of my favorite articles in particular was about a European island where people typically lived to be over 100. It not only showed pictures of the island but also had some wonderful writing about the lifestyle, people and history of it.

Delivery SUCKS! Magazine is nothing special.
I purchased a 1-year subscription to Islands Magazine on November 1, 2012 (shipped on November 9, 2012). So far I have only received 2 issues of the magazine. I have reported the problem 2 or 3 times via www.amazon.com but have never received a response. I think this is really bad customer service, and I am surprised as I have never had any problems with my previous magazine subscriptions. The magazine itself is nothing to rave about. Articles are very short, although well-written. I would not subscribe to it again ... even if the delivery was flawless!

more like hawaiian magazine
i thought i cancelled this subscription but apparently not before they sold me another year. this magazine primarily features hawaii and destinations surrounding bahamas - they should change the name of the magazine to American Islands or Hawaii Magazine. Its not that great and they don't really show you a range of travel for every budget. Pretty much every vacation is going to be be $8,000 or more for two people.

it helps to dream (and plan) about future vacations
The pictures are beautiful. If you can't travel much but love the island atmosphere, then this magazine is for you. You may also gets tips along the way, which may help you to plan your own island vacation someday. This is a good way to become acquainted with many remote and beautiful parts of God's world.I have been getting this magazine for 3 years now. Delivery is prompt. The printing is good. The journalism is acceptable. The cost is very good compared to other magazines. Enjoy!
