My daughter asks for instruments every year for Christmas, but we aren't buying a pre-schooler violins and harps just yet! She wants a full drum kit as well (with cymbals of course) so we picked the boom whackers as a good alternative. They have turned out to be a lot of fun, and my daughter has started paying enough attention to the colors to actually follow the songs. We are firm believers in piano as a true beginner instrument, but the boomwhackers have been very good at letting my daughter play tunes and have fun without the rigor of having to learn notes yet. And they are not so obnoxious that even when she just whacks that the sound is displeaing. A very nice product for us so far.

it dosent have a good quality, they dosent sound as you imagine they will, my son that is 3 use them for other things but not to play music. I wanted to returned it but BROOK MAYS amazon market place, want to charge me the cost of the shipping when they sent it, and the return shipping, so pretty bad service from that store too.

They are not as well made as I thought they would be and the tonality is rather dull, but they are still fun and my kid dig's them. I added a soem holes on each end and suspended the holder in the air... built a 2 x 4 frame and it increased the quality of the vibrations, but overall I would think a better plastic might be used or something to make them sound better.

My kids friends want to play with this whenever they come over and it was a big hit last Christmas from Santa. My daughter just brought it to show and tell in kindergarten and we have fun trying to make songs together. The mallets broke soon after we got it but I'm sure I could replace them easily, I just haven't had to try! Great gift and easy to cart around in it's case.

Good quality.

Only interested in purchasing quality instruments for our grandkids. As a music educator, I won't purchase items that are not pitched correctly (in tune), or that won't hold up to reasonable wear and tear. These are used in the classroom, and this set is an entire octave with a handy carrying case that doubles as a stand so that it can be set up as a xylophone. For my younger grandchild, we simply hold onto the mallets, and let him strike the tubes on the ground in order to make music. These are great for introducing melody, intervals, pitch matching, rhythms, and so much more!

I purchased this set for our children's choir program at my church. I've used these before so this wasn't a new idea or gamble. These are great ways to teach the 8 note C scale and have fun at the same time. A necessary joy for teaching all younger ages. My 4-6th graders still enjoy them too!
