An excellent book on using self-hypnosis and meditation techniques.
In my youthful years I seriously studied hypnosis and even became a certified hypnotherapist even though I seldom actually practiced the skill except in my job as a law enforcement detective at that time. In fact, I even wrote and self-published a basic manual on hypnosis (Basic Handbook of Hypnosis for law enforcement) in those early years of my career. Now that I am well into my senior years I have read quite a few books recently on Hypnosis and self-hypnosis to review the information I once learned more than 40 years ago. One of these books is this 261 page soft cover volume (Hypno-scripts: Life changing techniques using self-hypnosis and meditation from a lifetime practitioner by Mary Deal) which I purchased on Amazon. The delivery service as always was superb receiving it in a fairly short time after ordering it. There are many things I really like about this book. Some of them include large font making it easy on my old eyes, the writer’s actual experience in the field of hypnosis and meditation techniques, the author’s wonderful writing style making this an easy to follow manual for anyone interested in learning self-hypnosis for personal improvement. Finally, the simple to follow instructions make this a very practical book for both beginners in the field and the experienced for an informative review of essential hypnosis and meditation material. This interesting and educational book is organized into two parts. Part one covers the entire basic principles of hypnosis and teaching you how to enter self-hypnosis and various self-improvement scripts and ideas on how to design your own self-improvement suggestions. The second part explains and teaches meditation techniques and how to use mantras in your meditation as well as other facts. In conclusion this is an excellent book for anyone who seriously wants to learn self-hypnosis and meditation techniques and methods for personal self-improvement.Rating: 5 Stars. Experience Radiant Health and Well-Being
Retired Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist Mary Deal helps the reader understand the power on one’s subconscious. Quote: “A thin window of consciousness differentiates two states of mind-self-hypnosis and meditation – and this book explains their similarities and defines each condition and accessibility. “If curious enough to at least pursue this book, then the ability to learn these techniques are already a part of your consciousness and soon to be recognized. Lucky You! Your subconscious is prompting you to investigate. It is saying that you are capable of deeper states of mind.”Section One-Hypnosis speaks to the issues of unintentional Childhood Training-My Early Practices, using Inductions and Scripts and Terminology that the lay person needs to know. Quote: “Hypnosis: A technique to still the conscious mind activity of the analytical left brain. To protect us, the conscious mind, the left brain, censures all we receive, know, or transmit. Truth is cloaked in order that we may not be hurt by that which we do not understand or are not ready to comprehend or accept. Our conscious mind protects us from ourselves until we are ready to learn. It is the conscious mind we make quiet in order to access hypnosis.”About half way through the book I learned something that I could put into immediate practice to lower my stress. I share with you an important quote from Dr. Andrew W. Weil, American medical doctor, teacher and best-selling author on holistic health says on an internet post: “People who are stressed or anxious are actually chronically under-breathing, because stressed people breathe shortly and shallowly, and often even unconsciously hold their breath. By extending your inhale to the count of four, you are forcing yourself to take in more oxygen, allowing the oxygen to affect your bloodstream by holding your breath for seven seconds, and then emitting carbon dioxide from your lungs by exhaling steadily for eight seconds. The technique will effectively slow your heart rate and increase oxygen into your bloodstream, and may even make you feel slightly lightheaded which contributes to the mild sedative-like effect. It will instantly relax your heart, mind, and overall central nervous system because you are controlling the breath versus continuing to breathe short shallow gasps of air”.This book deals with many topics. I found the Through The Gate: Problem Solving, Allergy Control, Tinnitus Reassignment, Immediate Stress Reduction and The Attic Trunk-Finding Your Gifts most enlightening.Quotes of Interest from Section Two-Meditation:“Even the smallest shift in perspective can bring about the greatest healing.” by Dr. Joshua Kai, ND“Mediation cannot be induced manually. It is the ability of the inner mind or soul when conditioned and trained correctly, and when conditions that prevent us from seeing our true nature are removed.”It is my impression that whether you believe in Hypnosis or Meditation this book will show you ways to reduce stress and become more aware of your surroundings. Keep this Kindle reference book handy, learn from it and develop your own Hypno-Scripts.I leave you with this thought from Mary, “Life may not be that joyous, but believing that it is moves you quickly to it becoming that way.”Cold Coffee Press Endorses For Hypno-Scripts - Life Changing Techniques Using Self-Hypnosis and Meditation - by Mary Deal for her educated guidance with Hypno-Scripts and her concise writing ability that brings the subject into the readers grasp for self-help. Fascinating
First of all, I have to say I am fascinated by hypnosis and as a writer, touch on the subject in several of my own books. The author explains about how hypnosis can improve our lives when you tap into one's own consciousness. The author explains about self-hypnosis in clear steps all can try. What is possible when we learn more about our own minds? Grabbing this book is a great way to find out. Thanks to Mary Deal for giving readers a fascinating look into what we can do by looking at our inner-self to make our own world a better, healthier and happier place.

Perfect for the do-it-yourselfer
I bought this ebook a long time ago and I wish I had gotten around to reading it sooner. My only excuse is that as an ebook, it stayed hidden in my laptop, while if I had purchased a hard copy, the book would have sat on my coffee table begging me to read it. So, however belatedly, I'm recommending this book to anyone fascinated by the subject of hypnotism. I have never been successfully hypnotized by a hypnotist, and I suspect I am not alone. However, the step-by-step self-hypnosis techniques in this book (there are several) were a big help to teaching me how to do this myself.

Engaging and Informative
I’ve always been fascinated with the power of the human mind, especially in connection with spirituality. Mary Deal’s book was another in a long line of hypnosis related texts I’ve read. I found it to be informative without overwhelming in technical or formal terms and explanations. The scripts were easy to read and to visualize. I would imagine if one were to record them and play those recordings back while in a relaxed state, they would very easily find themselves in a much deeper state of hypnosis. Her section on meditation was also very helpful. The overall book was written in an engaging and friendly style which made it a joy to read.I won a copy of this book with no obligation to read and/or review it.

A Fascinating Topic
I’ve actually read this book twice. Once to take in & ensure that I understood the psychology behind the technique, then again to practice the meditation & mindfulness. In conclusion I can say that Mary Deal really knows her subject. I’m actually sleeping a lot better & remembering to take time out during my day to just sit, relax & clear my mind. I’d recommend this for anyone with a hectic life as it really helps you to compartmentalise your brain & focus on what’s important. A fascinating topic & exercises that works.

Not recommended.
A few good ideas on hypnosis and meditation but spoilt by shoddy proof-reading (words obviously omitted: reliance on spell-checker?) and poor grammar. Written in haste, in order to get out another book? Very disappointing.
