It looks like the finger rest is removable there is a screwdriver slot in the end of it but I have not tried to remove it

The internal diameter of fingers rings is 2cm. Recommended size scissor for chubby fingers is 15cm - 6". If more space is required for fingers, you may also remove the blue finger rings. Simply push them outward if needed.

Q: There appears to a whiteish residue smear on the inside of the plastic wallet that the scissors & black pouch are in. What is it please??

It is the scissor lubricant residue that keeps the blades functioning smoothly.
