Too much misinformation
I admire people who write books. This book, however, needs major revision. It contains just too much misinformation. For example,* the author indicates that the word "coffee" refers to the beverage, the coffee plant and the coffee bean.No. Coffee is the beverage, the coffee plant that produces coffee cherries (and beans). The coffee bean is the coffee bean.* The author states that there are two different types of coffee plants. No. There are many more than two. Some experts have stated that there are about 100 different species of coffee plants.* The author states that there are 2 major types of coffee that you can purchase. Huh? Only two types?* The author states that there are three kinds of coffee grinds. No, there are more than that.* The author discusses how coffee differs from espresso and how coffee beans differ from espresso beans. No!!! Espresso is a way of preparing a coffee beverage.I'll stop there. I suggest that the author start working a a second edition (after learning more about the topic).

Compact but full!
This little book is packed full of interesting information about coffee, from growth, production, to roasting, and drinking. There is a little bit of history, and even some recipes. It's a great, quick read for anyone that is interested in coffee, or just wants to know a little more about what's out there (and dare I say, it's perfect to read while drinking that cup of joe?) It lists all the different types of coffee and differentiates the characteristics. It was a little repetitive in the beginning, particularly where the types of coffee were listed out, then a few pages later they were listed out again with more detail. I would have preferred to get all the details about each coffee in one chunk as they came up. But all in all, an interesting read, and I gained a bit more of an appreciation for coffee, even though I am not a big coffee drinker myself.

everything you need to know about coffee, from bean to cup!
As someone who drinks multiple cups of coffee everyday, I thought I knew everything I needed to know. I never would have guessed half of the things or the amount of time that goes into brewing a single cup. I love that the author included the processes on brewing & roasting your own coffee, & provided helpful tidbits of information & tips/tricks - I have always been the type just to stop somewhere on my way to work, but this makes me want to attempt to roast my own! This was such an interesting read & I can’t believe how much information I gained from this book. I can’t wait to recommend it to my family & friends.

Recommended for Coffee Drinkers
As an avid coffee drinker this book was a surprise. It taught me a lot of things I didn’t know about coffee, from the way they grow, to the different kinds of grinding, to different types of roast (I knew there were different roast I just didn’t know how they were roasted different). I will now think of coffee in a different way after reading this book!

Delightful and Fascinating!
As a religious coffee drinker, I enjoyed this insightful view into the world of coffee with a mug of java close by. I learned a variety of fascinating historical facts about the coffee bean, the intricate process of how it is grown, and let’s not forget how to make the perfect cup of java. From gathering the beans to roasting your own, this book covers it all. I enjoyed each page as it brought me through the journey of what it takes to make my daily cup of coffee, from plant to mug. I would recommend this book to any coffee lover and those who are interested in learning more about the ever so popular cup of java.

Exceptionally basic and not complete on any aspect of coffee knowledge.
This book was exceptionally basic and did not provide detail on any aspect of coffee. When it came to roasting it did not go into details or specific types of roasters or sources to get them or ratings. I did not find it useful in trying to start into roasting. I would not recommend it.

Short, Sweet, and Informational
Personally, I am not a big coffee fan, so before reading this book, I was not familiar with the all the intricacies and nuances involved in coffee making, from harvesting to brewing. However, despite my previous lack of interest, the detail and imagery in the book immediately grabbed my attention. The author covered literally every coffee-related topic anyone would want to know. This was an easy read and does exactly what it advertises: allows readers to develop a more intimate relationship with the world of coffee.

This is a great gift for coffee lovers!!
This is an interesting and informative book. I really enjoyed learning more about the origins of coffee, and how it has become modernized. This book is great for understanding types of beans, roasts, grinds, and brew methods. This book is great for those new to coffee, and those who have been fans for years. You can learn how to roast your own beans at home, and how to grind them. You can even learn how to grind coffee beans with a hammer. There is also a chapter on latte art, which I am super excited to start trying. This book would be a great gift for coffee lovers a like, and something interesting to have in the kitchen.

Very informative book on coffee roasting
This book is a little gem of coffee information to help anyone new or old to the tricks of coffee roasting. In the current world of instant coffee and pod machines that basically do all the hard work for you, it's nice to read up on the art of roasting your own. This book has everything from the birth of coffee beans to picking the right bean to the process of roasting and all the gadgetry you need to make the perfect cup of coffee.I learnt a lot while reading this book; the differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee, the bean roasting process (one pop or two?), how to roast on a budget and how to make latte's, cappuccinos, mochas and macchiatos. There's also a link to a free recipe book for ten coffee drinks to make. It also tells you about edible coffee treats and how to make latte art. It's an informative, precise, concise book that I can see myself dipping into over and over again. There's helpful pictures throughout that compliment the info and the text is easy to read. This book has everything a coffee lover needs to know about roasting.

A great read!
As someone who is completely new to roasting coffee, this book is perfect for me! I’m used to instant coffee, but I don’t think I could go back now. Having all the information needed in one place makes it way easier to roast coffee, and you even learn the history of it as well! I felt a little lost starting out, but everything you need is in this book.It is really thorough and considers a lot, I especially loved the consideration of using coffee in baking! I even have the information needed to try out latte art now. I think this book would be useful to anyone interested in coffee, no matter what level you are there is information you’ll find useful in here.Would definitely recommend!

Basic++ with poor standard of writing & editing
Fair to say this is the most disappointing book I've ever purchased on the subject. Shallow depth & content is poorly written- maybe akin to that of an average GCSE student. Poor editing, pagination errors. However, one is warned as inside the front cover one reads "....both the publisher & the author of this book are in no way experts on the topics discussed within..." That says it all !!
