A Game-Changing Miracle for My Big Buddy: The Otto Step Pet Ramp
Forget 5 stars... I'd give this 10 stars! As the proud owner of a 110lb German Shepherd service dog, I've faced my fair share of challenges, especially when it comes to travel. Getting such a large dog into the back of an SUV was always a struggle, fraught with worry about potential injuries or the strain on his joints. That was until I discovered the Otto Step Pet Ramp Step, a product that has truly revolutionized our travel routine. From the moment I installed the Otto Step into my SUV's hitch receiver—a process so simple and tool-free it barely took 5 seconds! I could tell this was going to be a game-changer. But the real test was my dog's first use. With bated breath, I watched, only to be amazed as my German Shepherd walked up gracefully into the back of the SUV, and later got out just as effortlessly. It was as if he had been using it for years! The Otto Step required no training for my dog; he got it right from the first attempt, walking up and down the step with a confidence that left me beaming with pride. The design of the Otto Step is nothing short of genius. Lightweight yet sturdy, it supports my dog's weight with ease, offering a safe and comfortable way for him to enter and exit the vehicle. The step's surface provides enough traction that even on his first try, my dog didn't slip or hesitate. It’s clear that this product is designed with pets’ safety and comfort in mind, alleviating the stress on their joints and bones—something incredibly important for a dog of any size, but especially for a large breed like mine. What I love about the Otto Step is not just its functionality but also its portability. It easily stores in the back of the SUV, ensuring that wherever we go, my dog has a safe way to get in and out of the vehicle. This step has removed a significant barrier to travel for us, making journeys more enjoyable and far less stressful for both of us.Calling the Otto Step a miracle might seem like an exaggeration to some, but for my service dog and me, it truly has been a game-changing miracle. I cannot recommend this product enough to fellow pet owners. Whether your dog is large, elderly, or simply in need of a little help getting into the vehicle, the Otto Step is an investment in your pet’s health, safety, and happiness. It's a testament to innovation in pet care, making life easier and safer for our furry friends. If you're on the fence about purchasing one, take it from me: the Otto Step is worth every penny and then some.

I'd give it SIX stars if I could!
This product just arrived today and I am absolutely thrilled with it! I founded and run a Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute rescue and typically adopt only senior dogs. When it became difficult for my last aging, arthritic Malamute to get in and out of my car, I purchased a long, wide telescoping ramp. He was trainable to it and it worked; however, it was extremely cumbersome, and when he got really bad it required a person on each side to ensure he didn't fall off. It had a textured surface but I still had to put rubber-backed rugs on the ramp to keep him from slipping. This added even more hassle when taking him to/from the vet (or anywhere else). My current senior is a more typical Malamute (read: more stubborn and less agreeable to doing anything he doesn't want to do) and after a recent procedure he was wobbly and sore for a few days. This reminded me that soon he wouldn't be able to jump in and out of my RAV4 on his own. I weigh 120 and he weighs 110, so I'm unable to address this without help. So I started looking around for other options. I was prepared to buy the Heininger swivel step, but wasn't crazy about the fact that (a) it was a more permanent installation so it would be there all the time, (b) clearance could occasionally be a concern when it was swiveled under the car when I was NOT using it and (c) there was a space shown between the step and the back of the car, making me worry that one misstep into that gap between step and car might cause a fall. The Otto Step is AMAZING. The step is of substantial size, offering the dog (and me!) confidence - while still being lightweight and easily handled. It is sturdy with good traction. It slid immediately into place with no hardware - and it stayed there! But of course, all of this means nothing if the dog won't use it. So the REAL test came with seeing if I could get my charming but willful Henry to use the step. He made two preliminary attempts to jump directly into the car, bypassing the step. But by holding him close to the collar I was able to guide him to use the step - and he climbed right in very easily. It took a little more effort to get him to use it to EXIT the vehicle, but I think that's because he thought getting into the car meant he was going on an adventure, so he simply didn't want to get out of the car by ANY means :) Once he realized he HAD to get out, he readily used the step to exit the car. We did in and out 3 times within a couple of minutes of going out to the car. When we were done I just slid the step back out and put it away 'til the next time we are ready to go somewhere. It's small enough to stash easily in the back seat, or even in front passenger area. For cost, sturdiness, quality, ease of use, low weight and stashable size, I would give this SIX stars if I could! I worry about old dogs hurting themselves jumping in and out, and this will mean a lot more adventures for Henry in the future!

Life saver!
I am so very happy with this purchase. Well worth the 100 dollars. I have a 4 month old 45lb doberman who will be 90+ lbs full grown and don't want him to get used to me lifting him in and out of the bronco and it's too risky having him jump out as it can be slippery on the ground and don't want him to hurt himself. This step is the best dog purchase I've ever made. He learned very quick to hop on it and now he easily just steps in and out. It's very light weight, very sturdy, fits right in the tail hitch thing perfect and I just stick it behind my passenger seat when not in use. It really doesn't take up any room in the car. It has strong finger nail file like grippies so they don't slip off when stepping up and down. Seriously if you have a big dog and want to save your back and their joints....this is a game changer. Thank you for this product!

Had to modify slightly (to make it fit) but works like a charm now.
Lightweight and simple - just push it into the hitch receiver. Stable and platform is plenty big. My 85 lb lab and 65 lb doodle both use it to get into the back of our suv with ease. Store’s right behind driver’s seat.Only issue was it didn’t fit at first. My husband had to get out the electric sander to file down the edges a bit and now it slides in fine. I imagine we will use it for the duration of our dogs’s lives.

Great step platform. I made it better.
The media could not be loaded. This product works great for my two giant St Bernards. It is strong and does not twist when they step on it. It slides into the trailer hitch easily but it will not stay if you leave it in while driving. We take our dogs on adventures so we wanted to leave it in while we are driving so I added a pin that holds it in place. It is an easy DIY upgrade but should be something the company adds as either a standard feature or as an option.
